Could you say something more about the song(s) that made this happen?
Did you use vst(i) plugins?

How much ram do you got, and how much ram was used when the crash happen.

Maybe we should make a bit more clear that this is a crash. "Unhandled Exception" is maybe a bit too friendly and technical.

Anyway. As Pysj said: Its extremely important to know when this happened, what you did before this happened and if you can reproduce this. That you got this message box doesnt tell us anything.
What have you done with the Crystal VST to make it crash? So far only we only know of a problem with crystal when using more than one Crystal at once and then closing the song (or loading a new one).

yep... and seems like it may have to do something with "Spectrasonics StylusRMX"... at least twice of these three times it was open

And what have you done before it crashed (like hitting "new song", drawing a new envelope...)?

Also could you send me (to taktik @ ...) your "log.txt" file? You will find it in x:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Renoise\%renoiseversion% .

damn i got this too but i was using the magical 8 bit plugin.
when i load the crash backup it crashes renoise again & again.

how would i go about this? would it be best to include all vsts in a zip with the crash backup an email it.
i had multiple instances of magical 8 bit, could that be it?

or could i just post the xml code?

er actually im really not sure its magical 8 bit plugin.

Have you done something with the envelopes? Seems they somehow got broken. Can you remember your last action?

Ah, found something: Have you maybe done a "shrink" in the advanced edit section?

i believe that was it.
i remember now that i had expanded the pattern an then went to shrink it, an that is when it crashed.

some fine detective work there Taktik!

It's me once again... Taktik, any suggestion on my log? Seems like choise's situatuation isn't related to me... Can it be to do with any memory overusage? Yesterday, my Renoise hangs (memory related, I guess)... And after killing the Renoise as a process (yes, was the only way) and trying to reload the song I've got the very same "Unhandled Exception"... But when I rebooted the PC and started Renoise I could load my song with no problem...

RC3 should reserve enough memory to display a warning and prompt you to save the song. Looks like the machine hangs before reaching that point.

Most important is to know when and why this exactly happens: Which last action (like "Cutting a selection in the Pattern", "Tweaking a VST parameter", "Starting to Play the song", ...) caused the "freeze"/crash.
We need to reproduce such things to be able to fix them because we dont know what to fix.

So let us know what you have done before this happened. The more details the better!

Last time (yesterday) it happened when I reassign the instrument (EastWest Viper) because it stopped produce any sound, so I select "none" in "VST Instrument Properties" and then select back Viper. After that exception occured.

BTW, maybe the problem correlates with this: http://www.renoise.c...showtopic=12293 ?
