As usual available at the Renoise Backstage at:
http://backstage.renoise.com

--- About the 1.9.1 Windows/Mac versions:

We decided to make the Mac and Windows versions betas as well, as quite a
lot of changes have been done. It would be great if you could help testing
the new versions on Mac and Windows. If all is fine we'll release 1.9.1
final versions for Mac and Window in a week or two (before the Linux versions
go gold).

--- About the Linux version:

Demo versions for everyone will be available sooner or later, depending on
how much feedback we get from you. We would like to keep the first testing
round for Linux small, as this is easier to maintain for us. As soon as
things seems to be "quite" stable, we'll of course release the Linux Demo
versions as well...

Note: This is a !beta! version, which means it may contain bugs, so we need
your help to test if it runs as expected on your Linux box.
Before reporting any issues, take a look at the FAQs (pinned topics) in the
Linux sub forums. "Linux" is quite a wide term, which covers thousands
of different Linux "based" version, so take the time and read those FAQs if
something doesn't work for you....
in the Linux sub forums you'll also find more info about the installation
procedure, what's implemented and what not and so on.

The Linux version features (beside everything else you have on Windows & Mac):

- ALSA support (for Audio and MIDI)
- JACK Audio support (optional)
- LADSPA support (native Linux audio plugins)
- VST support (for Linux NATIVE VSTs only - See the FAQs)

So more or less all you need under Linux to comfortably write music
(except maybe DSSI - which will maybe be added later).

--- Beside Linux: What's new in 1.9.1 (compared to 1.9.0)?

Changes:

+- Added a "Draw Mode" and to the Sample Editor to draw new tiny waves
by hand, or to retouch existing waveforms. A simple "Create Sample"
option was added as well, so that you can create new hand-drawn samples.

+- Easier Drag and Drop in the Pattern Editor: You no longer have
to hold the mouse button down a bit, before you can drag a selection
in the Pattern Editor to move or copy it.

+- Added "Clear Muted Tracks/Columns" actions (shortcuts + context menu
entries) to the Pattern Editor and Sequencer. This can be especially
useful as an "arranging" aid in the Sequencer.

+- Added a "Record Dry" switch to the Sample Editors recorder, which
allows you to preview the to be recorded signal wet (depending on the
selected Track FX), but enforces to record the dry signal (without FX).

+- rescanning the folder & file contents in the DiskBrowser should be
a bit faster now

+- added an info button to VST / LADSPA FX, which will show you some
details about the loaded plugin

Fixes:

>- fixed: problems CPU detection with some newer AMD multicore processors.
Renoise could sometimes recognize those as single core CPUs with some
energy saving settings enabled

>- fixed: The 2nd Pattern Editor "Delete" keyboard shortcut has
not removed FX values, but just Notes

>- fixed: VST FX On/Off automation could cause unwanted delays when
rendering songs to disk

>- fixed: very high pitched backwards or ping-pong sample loops sometimes
didn't played back correctly

>- fixed: The Mac "Jack-insert" VST should now work properly in Renoise

>- fixed: OSX Leopard: Hitting/releasing the Command or Control key
while Caps-Lock was on could produce unwanted Note-Off events

>- fixed: VST plugins which are listed as FX but are VST instruments, will
now automatically be "fixed" (listed correctly) after you've instantiated
them and restarted Renoise

>- fixed: import of ImpulseTracker songs skipped IT Note-off/Note-cut
pattern events

>- fixed: import of Fasttracker XM songs could lead to invalid sequencer
loop ranges

>- fixed: Instrument envelopes in Fasttracker XM and ImpulseTracker IT
songs are now correctly imported

Sequencers are like martial arts. It's about how good you are with them, not how good the tool is.

Exciting stuff! I haven't dabbled with Linux (on my homecomputer) since last year but it's time to download a new distro and have some fun this weekend.

Impressive Taktik, impressive. :)

Excellent! Thanks dear taktik, you always surprise us with new versions. And thanks specifically for:

First of all: Thanks!
Second: There is a high chance that I would want to have a baby from you.
Third: I know that the correct import does not belong the focus of this project but if there should be a least little interest, I'd love to help out with any of the few remaining issues I just found out in 1.9.1b.

As a sidenote: I'm in an early stage of parsing .mod files to "transform" them later into .xrns but I'd give it all up if Renoise is going to improve the import natively. Can you give me a hint?

a checkbox "yes, I know this is beta, don't show this dialog again" on the startup dialog also can speed up a little bit ;]
loading a mp3 as a sample does not function, what about a link to lame 3.97 library

I have checked out the updates..

1. Clear Muted Tracks. This is very cool. Will make creating intros to my tracks a hell of a lot quicker. Before I had to go through and delete stuff in the muted tracks by hand.

>So, now this sort of update has been included, how about including a feature to remove tracks with no data in from the whole song. I always end up with loads of unused tracks in a song and have to scan through them all by hand to check for data. That is a pain.

2. Drag and Drop is MUCH better! I am going to have to get used to doing it so ast now though! Part of me still wants to wait for a second!

thanks again.

Well done on the new release. When it asks for the number of samples on the draw sample, is 441 the same as C, if I draw a sine and hit C note is the tone C? If so what would be the numbers for the other notes?
