The second release candidate is now available at the Renoise backstage. Public Demo Versions will be published soon as well. We'll officially announce this.
Looking at the bug reports forum, I think we are ready for the final release, so we should have a deadline this time: two weeks from now - 15th of January - if nothing "really bad" happens.
So if you have found some problems/bugs which are urgent, we should take care of before Renoise 2.0 goes gold, let us know please - now!
Of course we will release maintenance versions/updates after 2.0 went gold, but this should be avoided if somehow possible.
Whats new in RC2 compared to RC1:
- a new DemoSong from BeatSlaughter & Tenda . Thanks to you both for this great production!
- rendering selection to WAV will now behave as 1.9 (no longer boosting the volume)
- cleaned up the installer folders for Linux builds
The rest of the changes are just a big bunch of small bugfixes that got reported via this forum.
Lets hope the Renoise team can concentrate on creating new bugs (new big features) very soon!

Hurray, nagscreen almost gone :-)
about the new demo song, not giving any aesthetic criticism here, but that song is mixed very loud. no? The high freqs sound to loud on my hi-fi set-up.

Its quite aggressively mixed, yes, but it IMHO still sounds OK. Its up to Beatslaughter and Tenda to decide this....

I did manage to get 2.0RC2 to crash on me, but I went to great lengths to achieve it (still it was an accident).
I simultaneously ran 2.0 and 1.9.1 so that I could quickly see all the changes. I was switching between them and opening various views, menus, etc. After playing with some VSTs in 1.9.1 and loading songs and whatnot (I forgot 2.0RC2 was still active in the background) I got a message that there was a 'fatal GUI error' or similar (not sure which renoise this was in, perhaps it was both). It kept on popping up until I closed both renoises. Then I tried running 2.0RC2 again and it froze (well it slowed down incredibly, I was still able to move the mouse now and then) while in 'creating a new song' stage. I waited for like 20 minutes, then reset my PC and then everything worked dandy.
This is probably a very far-fetched scenario and perhaps VSTs are to blame, but I thought I'd share it nevertheless.
