Well, you're ALMOST there with MIDI. NOW, do one last thing...

Allow the instrument column be able to do program changes via the instrument settings MIDI section! The program slider is pointless...

For instance:

Instrument 1: MIDI Program=34, named "SupaSledge"
Instrument 2: MIDI Program=125, named "ClockinYoFace"

Then, to change between those two programs, I can just select them in the using ALT+UP or ALT+DOWN and just type them into the track.

Why is that such a foreign concept? If nothing else, add a MIDI DEVICE specific command to just ACCEPT PROGRAM CHANGE FROM INSTRUMENT SETTINGS! I.e. just throw a 9999 into the row, then it will actually accept the instrument's program setting and send that message.

Here's an example, still using the two instruments from above:

(the second column is the instrument column for this example)

C-4 1 9999 <-- sends program change for instrument, program is now 34
C-4 1 0000
C-4 2 0000 <-- even though ins. changed, program change did not happen.
C-4 2 9999 <-- NOW the program change happened, we're now hearing program 125

This seems more friendly than using a slider and having to remember on each device just what damn program is what! ... am I wrong?

Well, put it up in the ideas and suggestions forum...
The PC slider has been added because it was easy, it was a little extra and meant for those who are tired of grabbing their calculator to translate program 56 to hex.
Vv....

Ha ha, nice! I'll check it out next week when I'm not busy at work.

But I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you didn't add note interpolation?

Pitchbend support, excellent! Now I don't have to automate the pitch of my oscillators separately anymore :) Thanks!

Bank Changes are done with regular MIDI CCs and varies per device.

Quote

Bank change messages typically consist of two control changes, CC#0 and CC#32, and are usually transmitted in pairs. First you send CC#0, value, CC#32, value, then Program change #. Some instruments may not use both and only use one of them. CC#0 is the MSB(most significant byte) and CC#32 is the LSB(least significant byte), in case you see this referenced elsewhere. The actual calculation for the bank # is (128 times MSB value) + LSB value, but this may vary from synth to synth.

Thank you, I never knew that.
But it raises the question why it is a fixed parameter within the instrument settings midi properties tab.
this bank value only never worked with my Novation X-station.

The instrument setting's midi bank parameter uses both CC00 and CC32. It was based on the assumption all MIDI devices would understand bank changes that way, but as shown by my quote and your own observation, that assumption is wrong. In other words, the bank parameter is broken and sits there because we didn't remove it.

Edit: Don't use pattern follow and you'll remain on the pattern you wish to view or edit while Renoise continues to other patterns. Use pattern follow to view where the pattern is at its active audible state. You can disable this behavior at the GUI preferences.

I'd like to thank Taktik and the rest of the devs for accommodating NebularSpool :D

NebularSpool: Please add the source to "the renoise track" on your bonus section for next album. How about remixing? unless it's too much external plug-ins (as I suspect)
