Changes in Release Candidate 2

• Fixed random crashes when loading Novation V-Station and Bass-Station VSTs on multicore machines in a Windows environment.
• Fixed random crashes when loading Pluggo VSTs in a Mac OS X environment.
• Songs saved on Intel and PPC Macs are compatible again (no more white noise samples). To fix broken songs, resave the songs with RC2 on the platform they were created on.
• Added the `Off` value to the MIDI-CC Device to prevent parameters from sending MIDI data.
• Furthermore, the bugs labeled [fixed_RC2] have been fixed.

Renoise 1.9 Release Candidate 2 for registered users: Renoise Backstage

We are proud to announce the first Release Candidate of Renoise 1.9.0. For those not registered, the Release Candidate includes a public demo.

The purpose of Release Candidates is to serve as a test to make sure the program is stable and the package is complete. New features and radical changes will be postponed to the next release (ie. Renoise 2).

• Bugs labeled [fixed_RC1] have been resolved
• Filter type names are changed from incorrect approximations of the roll-off (-12dB, -24db, -48dB) to topology/technology (2×2 Pole, 2 Pole, Biquad). The filters do NOT differ in code, nor in sound.
• To help new users on the way, we added the Instruments Library. You can find this tiny package of samples in the installation folder which can be accessed from within Renoise with the Libary button in the Disk Browser.

Renoise 1.9 Release Candidate 1 for registered users: Renoise Backstage

Beta 8 increases the performance of real-time audio playback and the stability of VSTs on multi-processor PCs.

As the problems with audio in Vista and the incompatibility of certain VSTs on multi-processors have now been resolved, we are ready for the public Release Candidate and the Final release. Or are we? If you stumble upon any any important issues, now is the time to let us know about them!

From now on, we will concentrate on fixing the remaining bugs (specifically those labeled [???]). The implementation of new features will be postponed to next versions of Renoise.

If you haven’t registered yet, there is something big to look forward to. Renoise 1.9 Release Candidate 1 will be published next week, if all goes well, together with the first public demo of Renoise 1.9!

• Bugs labeled [fixed_b8] have been resolved
• Disk Browser: each category has its own sort state, `show all files` flag and QuickSearch field
• Audio performance is improved, allowing for lower ASIO and Core Audio latencies without crackles
• Better audio stability and performance on Windows Vista
• Real-time MIDI Output when playing a MIDI Instrument directly
• SynthEdit VSTs not supporting multi-processor PCs will no longer cause Renoise to crash
• Songs containing VSTs with a huge amount of parameters will load faster than before

We found a problem with Send Devices in the latest 1.9 Beta: Adding tracks causes Send Devices to be re-routed

Renoise 1.9 Beta 7 has been updated with a fix for this problem. If you got Renoise 1.9 Beta 7 before 6 September, please download the new build from Renoise Backstage.

Beta 7 contains 2 critical fixes:

1. Improved stability when running Renoise with 24-bit ASIO drivers on Windows
2. WDM MIDI input drivers should work correctly now

Renoise 1.9 seems to be getting as stable as can be, but please continue hunting the last remaining bugs. Suggestions on how to finetune existing features are also welcome.

• Scanning for new VSTs takes less time

• You can now use the middle mouse button to preview the sample in the Sample Editor.
• Audio and MIDI drivers are released when the pc goes into sleep and reactivated when the pc wakes up. Hopefully prevents ASIO soundcards from becoming unresponsive in those situations.
• Caps Lock will be disabled when Renoise is running in the background or after closing down. Only affects the Windows version.
• The new Auto-Drumkit feature has been improved
• The chorus delay parameter is now more sensitive at lower values.
• Patterns can now be glued together through the Pattern Sequencer’s context menu.

Renoise 1.9 Beta 5

Beta 3 contains 2 critical fixes:

1. Transmitting MIDI while shutting down or loading a new song might cause Renoise to crash
2. Crash when navigating to a no longer existing location in the Disk Browser. Could also happen when starting 1.9 with config files from 1.8, containing a non-existing path.

Please continue to report bugs. The sooner we fix them, the earlier we can begin finetuning.

• Higher performance from the Flanger and Chorus devices when no Filters are used
• The Pattern Sequencer now has a block highlight option, much like the line highlights in the Pattern Editor. Both highlight options are located in Song Settings.
• The selection indicator in the Sample Editor is back and better than ever. The indicator shows the values of the start and end of the selection, in the unit matching the lower ruler’s.
