- The lack of evaluation reminders
Help us to develop the program you love
Our mission is to provide the tracking scene with affordable yet high-quality music production software. We are mornot in it for the money. However, we need to cover expenses. And because you are a paying customer, we have the obligation to keep releasing new versions and offer support.
Free updates for years
Your license is valid for one full version. If your license starts with Renoise 1.8.0, the last update you can get is Renoise 2.8.x. Here is an indication of how long that will take: no-one has had to upgrade his license yet. Renoise 1.0 was released in 2002 and Renoise 1.8 came out in 2007.
Use the platform of your choice
Your license is bound to you, not to the OS or the machine you are running Renoise on. As a registered user, you get access to Renoise Backstage. Once in Renoise Backstage, you can download your personal version of Renoise as often as you like, for any platform we offer Renoise on.
Be part of Renoise's development
A Renoise user is more than just a paying customer. You can be part of the development!
- You can post suggestions on the forum. Many features have made it this way into Renoise. A recent example is moving points numerically in the Automation Editor.
- You will be able to participate in exclusive beta tests. That way you can try new features before regular users even know they exist! Do not underestimate this benefit: in the past it has taken over 6 months between the first restricted beta version and a public release.
- You can make tools. Renoise's song data and clipboard is in XML format and can be parsed by many programming languages. For example, you could write an application that creates chords based on the notes you copied from the Pattern Editor. An existing tool is Xrns ListVST, which shows a list of used plugins in songs.
- After a new version has been released we ask all registered users to vote on a list of future features. The highest item on the list will gain high priority on our to-do list. An example is the Mixer added in Renoise 1.8.
- The winner of Renoise's music competition "BeatBattle IV: Winter" won a special prize. In Renoise 1.8 we added the feature he wanted: External Audio Recording.
- We are completely community driven. You can talk with the main programmer and other team members. In fact, most team members are recruited from the forum.
