ColorMate tool for Renoise -------------------------- MANUAL CONTENTS 1. BASIC USAGE 2. ADJUSTING COLORS 3. MANAGING COLORS 4. TRACK GROUP COLOR MANAGEMENT 5. MISCELLANEOUS 6. SHORTCUT REFERENCE 1. BASIC USAGE -------------- ColorMate tool will install new keyboard shortcuts: -"Pattern Editor:Track Control:Colormate..." -"Mixer:Track Control:Colormate..." -"Pattern Matrix:Tracks:Colormate..." Any of these will bring up the control dialog for setting track color values with the keyboard. The dialog contents The dialog will contain four small rows, each of which will have a title letter, a value field and a slider. The title letters denote the following: R = red G = green B = blue A = alpha H = hue S = saturation V = value (brightness) 2. ADJUSTING COLORS ------------------- Using the dialog with the arrow keys The dialog will show four sliders and one of them will be 'active'. The active slider row will have a background color similar to the value field column. To select the active row, use the up and down arrow keys. To adjust slider value, use left and right arrow keys. To adjust value with bigger steps, use shift + left / right arrow keys. To push value to min or max, use command + left / right on mac, control + left / right on win/linux. Selecting color system. ColorMate can work with RGB or HSV values. To select which color system to use, bring up the dialog and press enter. The dialog values will toggle between HSV and RGB. Entering values in fields To enter a value in numbers, select the row you want to enter and press space. The value field will activate and you can enter your value. When you're done, press enter (as you would normally with a value field), and change will take effect. Entering values with shortcuts To enter a specific value without selecting it, press the title letter of the value you want to enter. For example, if you want to enter an alpha value, press A (with the ColorMate dialog focused). This will focus the valuefield in question, after which you can type in the value and press enter. 3. MANAGING COLORS ------------------ Storing color preferences Colormate can store up to ten color preferences for you. To store a color, define it on a track and with the ColorMate dialog focused, press command + shift + 1 (or 2, 3, .. ,9, 0) on mac, control + shift + 1 (or 2, ..) on win/ linux. This will store the color and display a confirmation message in the renoise status bar. The colors you store will be kept across sessions, so you can for instance copy a track color scheme across projects with relative ease. Applying color preferences To apply a stored color preference, press command + 1 (or 2, ..) on mac, control + 1 (or 2, ..) on win/linux. This will recall the stored preset and apply it on track, displaying a confirmation message on the renoise status bar. If no preset color has been stored in the slot, this will be acknowledged with a status bar message also. Copying and pasting colors To do fast color managing, you can also copy and paste track colors. To copy track color, have the ColorMate dialog focused and press command + C on mac, control + C on win/linux. The track color will be copied and a status bar message displayed. To paste, press command + V on mac, control + V on win/linux. This will paste the most recently copied track color to the currently selected track. For fast multi-pasting, pressing shift + command + V on mac, shift + control + V on win/linux will paste the color and select next track. 4. TRACK GROUP COLOR MANAGEMENT ------------------------------- Colormate offers two different methods for setting group colors with one keyboard shortcut. The methods are geared towards the most probable group color management scheme, in which the parent group track will be the same color as the subtracks, with some light changes. Both of these functions will by default ignore all group tracks that are members of the parent group. This design choice was made to allow the most probable group color management scheme to function as fluently as possible. To edit the group track colors (within groups), use normal colormate color managing functions such as the color-copy-pasting function. Applying parent track color into group member tracks To apply the parent group track color into the subtracks select a subtrack or the parent group track and with the dialog focused, press command + g on mac, control + g on win/linux. This will set all the sub-tracks of the parent group track into the same color as the parent group track. If a track that has no parent group track is selected, nothing will happen. Applying selected track color into sibling tracks Apply the selected track color into the sibling track colors by pressing command + shift + g on mac, control + shift + g on windows. If a track that has no parent group track is selected, nothing will happen. 5. MISCELLANEOUS ---------------- The tool will have some shortcuts for basic renoise pattern actions that help making color management between tracks a little easier; TAB and shift + TAB will change track. Note that even if these are the default renoise key bindings for changing the currently selected track, these will not necessarily be your shortcuts for that action. These ColorMate shortcuts unfortunately cannot be customized. For now. 6.
