Transposer

by taifunbrowser

Allows for transposing notes within a scale or key.

I hope you enjoy this tool! Most of the code is taken from Note Editor (v.voois) and Scale Finder (Cly/Suva).

Summary:

Transposer is a pattern editor that you can easily switch in and out of (assign it to a hotkey for easy access). When open, the following keys do the following to the editing pattern:

Escape: Exit transposer

Arrow keys: Move the cursor up / down the pattern, left and right moves column by column and flows over into the next track.

Return (with Chord Mode “ON”): All notes on the cursor’s line in the cursor’s track are transposed “INCREMENT” units in the currently selected scale. ANY NOTE WHICH IS NOT A NOTE IN THE SELECTED SCALE IS >>NOT<< TRANSPOSED!

Return (with Chord Mode “OFF”): Only the note in the cursor’s column is transposed.

One example use is to take a melodic theme and transpose it some fixed number of scale steps up or down in some key, and see how the result sounds. Have fun!
