Chord FX or Column
@helltrack wrote:
I am a bit lazy and find writing chords tedious How about a Chord FX Column or Command, that let’s you specify the Chord (min,maj,maj7,etc) and let’s you additionally input strumming delay options (up,down,random,) and velocity ramps (ramp up from left to right, right to left, random)?

Disregard. Fixed.
Hi-res icons should be 4x the original icon if the filename says @4x, not 200%. Obviously.

Show_prompt() return: "may be busy or may have stopped responding"
@Raul wrote:
R3.2.0 W10. I am using a function whose fragment is as follows:
local rna=renoise.app() local function custom_prompt() local mpt=rna:show_prompt( ("PRE: %s"):format(phm_tool_name), ("%s\nDo you really want to continue?"):format(string_names), {"Proceed","Cancel","Open Folder Only"} ) if (mpt=="Cancel") then return elseif (mpt=="Open Folder Only") then if not io.exists(path) then os.mkdir(path) end rna:open_path(path) return else --more & more code endThe pop-up window of this show_prompt() are this aspect:
With 3 buttons: [Proceed] [Cancel] [Open Folder Only]
I think I am using the code correctly. But when this pop-up window appears and I wait a few seconds, after I press the “Cancel” button, the following window appears:
The temporar sequence is this:
- I invoke the popup window “PRE: Phrase Manager”.
- I wait a few moments, 10, 15 seconds or more. The time it takes to read the contents of the window.
- I press the “Cancel” button (the “return” order should be executed inside the code).
- Then the warning window appears “Script not responding”.
I don’t understand why it crashes with the message: “may be busy or may have stopped responding”.
Is the code that I have built wrong or is there a flaw in the API?
I understand that, if you want to stop the script, it is necessary to put “return”. The Cancel button has a “return”. Even so, the “Script not responding” window appears.
Does anyone know exactly what is happening? I think I have no control over this.

Full screen on macos is the "wrong" full screen
@Pomax wrote:
It looks like ReNoise is not using the correct full screen API call on macos (tested on high sierra, mostly because I have no reason to upgrade to Mojave, and upgrading to Catalina would break thousands of dollars of VSTi… >_>), so that rather than becoming a new virtual desktop like it’s supposed to (one you can swich away from with ctrl-left/right), it instead only draws itself at native screen resolution on top of everything else, so you can’t get to your dock, or your system bar up top, etc.

Jump between columns in a track?
@helltrack wrote:
Maybe I can’t see it, but is there a shortcut to jump between columns (Note, Pan, Delay, FX) in a single track without having to move through every digit of each column?

First MIDI keyboard
@Dan77 wrote:
Hi
I have recently purchased Renoise after using the demo for a few weeks. Music production is very new to me. I purchased Renoise because it seems a powerful DAW for making drum & bass, and I’m having a blast so far.
I am looking at purchasing a small MIDI keyboard as i think it will be more intuitive instead of the computer keyboard. I would like to trigger notes in the sequencer (& chords), and use the keyboard to place slices of samples, (if possible).
As i have never done this before, i can foresee myself having difficulty if i chose the wrong product.
I have a few options I’m looking at, and would appreciate any feedback on if they are a good fit for the Renoise software and what i would use it for. they are…
Arturia Keystep - 32 key
Arturia Minilab mk11 - 25 key
Akai MPK Mini mk11 - 25 key
The Keystep initially appeals to me the most as it has 32 keys, slim profile. but i like the drum pads on the other 2 models, would they work easily in Renoise? but i also think a keyboard would work well for triggering drum sounds? Is there one particular model that i could ‘grow in to’ so would be a better investment?
Anyway, any advice from you guys that have seen it all would be appreciated.
Thanks.
I use OIS operating system.

Gloomy techno track, just released
@Denim wrote:
Hi, if you like techno maybe you’ll like to give my latest track a listen, which was recently released digitally + on vinyl. It was made with Renoise, a Moog Sub Phatty, Korg ER-1 and a Korg Monotron + some vocals which I did through the Microkorg vocoder. It started out with a long-ass live recording where I ran the signal from the ER-1 (splitted) into the Moog’s CV and Filter inputs, and then the output from the moog into itself for some nice feedback, and just tweaked away. It was a quite messy and fun session

You have broken Renoise!
@sidwave wrote:
by making popup window with mixer and other stuff, that can be moved and resized, youve completely broken the easy way to work.
its just an annoying window, and you move it only , because its in the way of something,.
thats not how mixing works.
mixing is about listening with your ears, and make some analysis, what to change.
and use some time to think about it, then you change something on the mix, because you are sure what you want.
opening the mixer 100+ times and remaking something is the wrong way to mix
the window has now just become an annoying thing.
im saying, that with these new work process changes you made, its going the wrong way for renoise.
im not upgrading. i hope the crazy user interface people with all kinda “smart” ideas, get fired!

Can Redux be used in Standalone mode?
@Nikola wrote:
I’ve read through the manual, website, etc, and it appears the answer is “No”, but I wanted to double-check: Can Redux be used as a standalone application in Windows (I’d just like to play around with samples), and not as part of a DAW?
Many thanks!

Delay column for MIDI notes - FF delay is not short before next beat
@gresade wrote:
I’m on Linux with the Renoise 3.2 Demo.
When I record MIDI (ESI M8U XL) and the notes are short before the next bar, the delay is recorded as FF.
This is what should happen and while recording it also sounds as expected.
When it is played back from the recorded notes in Renoise, the delay is different though, a lot less then needed. So the notes with FF delay are not delayed enough to appear just before the next bar, they appear a lot earlier.
E.g. if I put a note with FF delay before a note in the next bar (without delay), they should be very close in time (approx. a 256th fraction of the time of one line to the next). But it is obviously a lot longer, more like half as needed.
I tried different settings but always got the same issue.
When reording MIDI it means that all notes being played a bit ahead in time will appear much to early in time. Or the other way around, I can not place MIDI notes to be a little ahead in time using the delay column. This is also happening if I type the notes in and do not record via MIDI.

but some … are way off when it comes to mastering.
I really love hunz ‘all falls down’ song … but whenever I turn up the volume to the fullest, my ears start to bleed.
same happens to several other songs.
what do yall think?

[Effect Presets] tuned keytracked effects formulas/doofers Ktrk 1.1
@OopsIFly wrote:
As cannot be found elsewhere on this page, I decided to once again upload my tuned keytracked devices.
They are not just keytracked filters, but can be tuned to exact note frequencies with a keytracker. Many Renoise effects supported, not just the filters! Also there is bend control possible, and you can transpose or tune to harmonics by editing the parameters in the formula device text field (no need to scroll).
The library can be installed by drag’n’drop the file into a renoise window.
There are Doofer presets in the library, that contain pre-setup keytracker/formula/effect combinations. You will want to tweak the parameters of the keytracker, effect and maybe the text parameters of the formula to work with the effects.
Also the library contains the raw formula presets I have gathered so far.
I will in the following days look up my data and put up a table in here the devices each formula will work with. Sorry, can’t be bothered now, it’s been a while since I created them.

Fetching parameters from unloaded VST/AU plugin?
@esaruoho wrote:
Hi, how do I fetch the parameters from an unloaded VST/AU plugin. By this I mean, I have a song that is really old. The plugin no longer exists in that specific name. such as AU: Yohng’s W1.
I need the parameters from it, so I can use them with the newest George Yohng’s W1. I have no access to the old W1 component.
Can I access the parameters from inside of the .xrns file somehow, or…?
or from the console? or something?

Minimixer in the Instrument List
@helltrack wrote:
A minimixer in the instrument tab that let’s you quickly solo or mute instruments and adjust volume, pan and sends with mini rotary dials would be ace. Would be great so you could enter notes and do rough fine adjustments without always having to switch to the mixer panel.
