Typing in the loop start and end
@savardm wrote:
Is there a way to manually type in the start and end point for a loop in Redux? Dragging the is a bit of a hit and miss approach. Especially when you have the right values but for some reason they didn’t import in.
Thanks.

Renoise Sounds so much quieter than my other DAWs
@luisaguirre wrote:
I have a few DAWs I’ve been playing with. From these, Renoise by default sounds considerably more quiet when I load a VST or sample to play. I completed this track in Renoise:
https://soundcloud.com/luxatomic/into-the-microverse
And wasn’t satisfied with the way it turned out. The sounds seems to lackluster and dull. I’ve re-mixed and re-mastered several times with little improvement. I’m a beginner and am definitely learning the ropes, but the songs I create in other DAWs seem to have more punch to them even before any effects.
I did a little experiment and ran Renoise, Studio One and Reason with default launch settings. Loaded the Same VST synth on all three. Studio One and Renoise sounded pretty damn good, while Renoise sounded almost muffled very quiet comparatively.
I checked preferences and they all matched, and all are running through the same sound card.
Am I missing something? Out of all these DAWs I find Renoise the most creative to work with but when I export my stems they lack impact compared to Reason and Studio One.
Appreciate any feedback and help regarding this before I start another project that I’ll end up being unhappy with.

Auto-adjusted latency + shortcut inc/dec latency
@ffx wrote:
The audio latency could be switched to some kind of automated logic.
So if Renoise hits a cpu overload (already implemented), the latency could be increased to the next higher available latency, without stopping the song playback. Also there could be an option to start with 8ms always on song load then, so a maximal/minimum latency threshold setting.
Also there could be two shortcuts for increasing/decreasing latency on-the-fly, also without stopping playback.
I always like to use the most low latency possible in each song project, and always switching the latency manually in the prefs seems a bit of an annoying workflow.

Considering between a 2019 Macbook Pro or Air for Renoise. Any hands-on experience?
@dep wrote:
Hello all. I am a heavy Renoise user, and utilize a lot of instrument and effect plugins in my tunes as well. I’m considering either a Macbook Air or a Macbook Pro for Renoise, and am curious if anyone here has experience with the lesser powerful Air for heavy usage. Thanks in advance!

Renoise Ripp-off “Bliss” by discoDSP
@LofiMat wrote:
Dont wanto post the link but yu can find it if yu need - I think for the price of Renoise we DONT need this, as this seem a Ripp-off off the internal Renoise-sampler and a pretty exact copy, too. Just for discussion and also showed me again what great Weaponz we allready hav indside Renoise. Dank
discoDSP “Bliss” is a simple but powerful sampler with some extremely creative features – Bliss’ VSTi Sampling feature can automatically create sampled instruments from patches on any VST instrument, which is a pretty useful feature if you’re working with CPU-hungry synth plugins that bog down your sessions.

Are there any effectors that increase Kick’s power?
Please teaching me which effector is best for thickening kick and bass sounds on Renoise.

Envelope Device GUI Issues
@Achenar wrote:
When synced to beats instead of ms, the point time value box on the left does not leave enough room for the text. Also, not sure why, but the value boxes on the right have zeros with a dot in the middle, while the ones to the left do not.
This has been present since 3.1 and is also true for Redux.

Move Tools into a Panel
@helltrack wrote:
Maybe there is a good reason to not do this, but I would find it good if tools would be in the side panel on the right instead of windows, to better integrate them into Renoise. I would imagine the Panel would be scrollable depending on how many tools you have loaded and it would be able to pin tools to the top, and have a launch in window button if they need that.

Mac: VST exception errors when loading Softube Modular
@psumner wrote:
When I load the latest version of Softube Modular VST in Renoise 3.2, I nearly always get this error dialog after the initial loading pause completes and the VST’s window appears:
In my testing, this typically appears just after loading the plug-in, but occasionally, it doesn’t. In those cases, the plug-in was usable, but the error appeared when I saved the Renoise project or right-clicked the stop button to halt all DSP and devices.
Running plug-ins in a sandbox had no effect, nor did toggling the options that are accessible via the [?] button. The VST loads and runs without issue in Bitwig.
I’m running 64-bit Renoise 3.2.0 on an early 2013 15-inch 2013 MacBook Pro with a 2.8 Ghz i7, 16GB RAM, and Nvidia GeForce GT 650M/Intel HD 4000 GPU. Operating system is macOS 10.14.6. Using built-in audio device.
I reported the issue to Softube. Unfortunately, Renoise is not one of their officially supported DAWs, so tech support isn’t available, but at least they’re aware of the issue.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

[CVR] Ace Beaming Sun – Yor Theng [Remix Competition]
@U4iC wrote:
Ace Beaming Sun is at it again with this one, bringing us some new sounds and inspiration from Thailand. It is without a doubt the beautiful environment helped to play a role as muse during the production of this album. Straying away from the commercialized sounds of the EDM world, Just Doin’ Yor Theng is a bit more on the experimental side with a progressive house/techno vibe. We have chosen the title track of this release, Yor Theng to present as new remix competition!

MIDI CC to VST as automation?
@leaphion wrote:
I’d like to input MIDI CC as automation to a VST, but I’m not sure if that’s even possible?
The use case here is that East West Play VST uses MIDI CC 1 as volume for certain sample instruments, thus I’d like to draw the changes as automation curves instead of the pattern commands (which I’m aware is a possibility to accomplish this currently).

Overlay visuals of the modulation effects on waveforms
@kdgh wrote:
Couldn’t really find the right topic for this, but it would be super super awesome if the visuals of, let’s say, the envelope or any other modulation used can be shown over the visuals of the waveform?
If the visuals fit in comparison with the resolution and the timing of the waveform, then you could use your eyes as well when certain modulation needs to start in terms of the waveform.
Basically this as an example:
