I know I can add a regular envelope to soften a sample’s ‘start’. That’s common knowledge for rudimentary synthesis, like making pads. I’m talking more about very TINY envelopes, like Hanning, Blackmann/Harris envelopes to repeatedly remove sharp attacks, in a quick fashion. They’re often used with granular synthesis.

is there an easier way or can someone make it easier for example i like to bounce some tracks as audio to free resources and it seems like you have to set the audio from
the master and mute everything else , can we please get some bouncing to audio feature or tool to make it easier or am i missing something, render to plug in is really hit and miss it should be superseeded by something else thanks guys

I like to stop a xrns project in the last line of its last pattern using the command ZT00 in the fx column. When doing so, in some xrns projects the song stops at the exact last line where I put the fx command as intended, while in another xrns project the song stops one line earlier than where the ZT00 fx command is. Why is this? How can I force the song to stop at the last line instead a line too early?

Hi all, new user here who just bought a copy of Renoise to see if switching to it from Ableton Live would be a good option for me (didn’t really feel I could give it a fair shake without ASIO).

I’ve done a fair bit of searching around on this but the topics I found are a bit old so hopefully it’s OK to ask again in case things have changed.

As far as I can tell, it seems that when recording live the note off values are always locked to the LPB rather than having their own ‘delay’ value to increase the resolution. So the options seem to be to either manually type in when you want the notes to be cut off or to increase the resolution by turning the LPB up really high. Or is there something else that I’m missing?

Hello, I am a programmer/algorithmic composer, but so far I’ve done everything via python -> MuseScore. It’s time to invest in learning how to use a DAW, and renoise seems by far the most similar to my existing workflow with the existence of lua scripting as well.

Is anyone here willing to offer an hour on Zoom when it is convenient for you? I have always avoided user interfaces, so Renoise’s GUI is a little overwhelming, and there are a number of questions I already have that I can’t find an answer for. While this request may seem strange, given the prices of sample libraries, I feel that it’s worth investing in a good foundation.

I use many MP3 Sample Files from the Internet. VLC plays it good, but if i importet it via drag and drop in Renoise the sample only is loaded for 1-2 seconds and the truncated!!!

WMP play it right, VLC play it right, Reason play it right, only Renoise not play it right…So don’t come us with the unuseful Windows Standard Codec Explain… from old thread here in this Forum. Or the Quicktime install shit.

Hi,

When I load a song, the cpu usage shown in Renosie is much higher then shown in W10 task manager. Not that I find this a problem, but when my cpu percentage in Renoise crosses like 50 or 55% everything starts to crackle, even with very large buffersizes on my (really new) ssl 2 audio interface. I’ve set a buffersize of 1048 by default for as long as I can remember. (This problem also existed on other audio interface btw, like audient and m-audio)

I’ve configured windows to run at best performance in all settings and only have legal software (I guess warez could be a source of strange problems.)

PC
intel i7 4790 cpu with 4 cores at 4gz
hyperthreading on
32GB memory
Renoise runs on SSD
Only a midi card to one usb 3.0 root hub and a audio interface to another usb 3.0 root hub.
I even have my mouse and keyboard on an old 1.1 pci usb card to not let them interfere with my audio.

When I turn hyperthreading off, it doesn’t run better or worse.

I hope someone can help me use a larger part of my cpu’s for Renoise.

ps: I wanted to add a screenshot of my cpu usage in taskmanager and Renoise, but I don’t know how to add an image. Anyway, taskmanager says 24% and Renoise 51%, futhermore 26% of my memory is in use by all programs.

Hi, new user here.

I am just scratching the surface of what is possible with Renoise, and I was wondering what best practices there are for phrases. I was playing with the idea to use phrases for beat loops, so you could easy switch them and add filltro’s and stuff without having to copy paste the patterns all the time.

Is this a good idea or is it “meh”? A friend of my does everything in patterns to give his songs a more organic feeling, but i’m new to Renoise and don’t know the best practices for phrases.

So long story short: where do you use phrases for? And is it a good idea to use them for beats?

If you’re doing a remix in Renoise you’re not going to want LONG audio stems. I use Ableton to chop the Loops up so I can easily use them in Renoise!

You can do a similar technique using renoise but you end up doing it blind to a certain degree.

Ableton can be your friend!
