Setting connection between macro and doofer
Hello,
I create an automatic doofer, display and name the macros using the API,
but I can’t figure out how to automatically create a macro[x] connection with the doofer with the given names. Checked what I’m talking about.
How do I connect it automatically using the API?
mappings.parameter is read-only.

someone could tell me better why i should buy a pack of already known breaks samples ?
There is something different/out of the ordinary in this collection ? I mean, I love every single piece of music by don Vibert, but in which these sample should be different by the original ones ? It’s all about post-treatment, processing samples ?

Phrase Editor discussion
Wondering if any users would care to share or discuss creative applications for the phrase editor.
How do users go about populating the matrix with a dozen or two variable patterns? By hand or are there generative techniques to create random/musical variations out there? I’m assuming the keymap mode is best for when you have several phrases programmed.
I like to use the phrase changer tool and randomize it with an LFO set to noise. I’ll usually have a c4 note set on 6 different phrase patterns each with different phrase lengths. I think this offers a different feel compared to randomizing a repeater.

I have a lot of high quality multisamples that I’d like to be able to use normally with Renoise, but they are completely impractical to work with when Renoise tries to copy the whole thing constantly. I would use VSTs but I’d still like to be able to use tracker commands, ya know?

Redux may be crashing my Linux OS
I recently upgraded to Kubuntu 22.10, and ever since then, every time I use Redux within Bitwig, after a few minutes of use, I get a system crash that produces a constant and loud buzzing sound, and renders the OS UI useless, as in, although it seems that I can mouse-hover over things and they react, and sort of move windows around, nothing clicked performs an action. I have to shut down the machine by brute force.
Since this has happened several times already, I will need to spend some time with Redux and see if there are steps to reproduce. For now, I don’t see anything in Bitwig’s or Redux’s logs at all, so I wonder if anyone else has experienced something similar.

Drum generator WIP
Hello,
I’m trying some drum sound generator.
So far I only have kick, snare, hihat and creation with Karplus-Strong.
It is designed in pure data and now I am converting the algorithms.
I don’t want to release it yet because I want to redo a few things, but ideas would be useful. Thanks.

How to unserialize DocumentList?
I am trying to use the renoise.Document API for saving song.tool_data, which seems pretty convenient! However, I cannot seem to unserialize/load it (as a document).
I have a bunch of objects/nodes in a DocumentList. Any pointers on how to load them from the xml string, using the from_string() method? Need I create some object as a prototype for the list? (I’ve tried that also, I think)

Native Instruments Add-ons and Plugins responsiveness problem
@taktik Almost all Native Instruments add-ons and plugins very unresponsive in Renoise DAW. I had this issue since used Intel Mac, recently I have purchased Mac Studio with hope this unresponsiveness will gone. Unfortunately this problem still there.Is just crazy slow to work with Massive X synth. I need to open the sound inside NI Machine 2 or Komplete Kontrol to create/tune instrument, then save it. and reload within Renoise. This is all happens with mode “Run all plugins in sandbox” OFF. If I’ll switch this mode ON, slow responsiveness becoming absolute_crazy_slowest_ever responsiveness where is impossible to change anything in plugin.
I have tried to use NI plugins in Ableton 11 and Logic Pro X with no issues.
I’ve got this problem across almost every up-to-date NI instrument and/or plugin, despite of the raw power of Mac Studio.
@taktik Could you please consider to dig into this issue?

Multi Edit Cursors - Multiline Editing
Like many of the modern IDE’s and code editors, an option to place multiple edit cursors on multiple lines with the same type of command (notes, effect commands etc.) we can type to have multiple values changed at the same time.
The idea can be explored further to quantize the multi edit points to beats, bars etc. and automatically place multi edit points to every beat, bar or line on a single pattern, loop region, track etc. and type in the magic value that governs them all.

Show how many lines are selected
Similar to word processing tools. A line of text at the bottom like “Selected X lines” can be helpful to determine lengths of notes, phrases or effect commands.
For example I need 8 lines of I10 command to fade in from 0 volume to 7F maximum. Or 12 lines of U10 to glide up an octave. If I can quickly see how many lines of this command I entered, I can fix my errors quicker.

Subtractive Synthesis
So, using the basic waveform samples you can definitely get pretty good subtractive synth sounds (minus sync???) particularly with sends in the FX chain.
If anyone has any tips on or tricks on creating synth sounds (FM, Sub, etc) using the native DSPs I would love to hear them.
I’m on this minimalist thing right now trying to keep everything Renoise

I would like to hear your music made with only Renoise
Ok, here we go. We already have another thread regarding Renoise music, but in this thread only music should be posted which was done (almost) entirely in Renoise. Softsynths are not allowed, except they are sampled in Renoise. VSTs like compressors or EQs are allowed. If possible feel free to post your xrns file.

Pitch Slide Down faulty with Samples in "Texture" Mode
If using pitch slide down on a sample which has Beatsync enabled in “texture” mode, an artifact (pop / crackle) will always occur as soon as the sample has been pitch slided 6 halftones downwards.
see the example file attached. error will occur in pattern 2
pattern 0-1 are just to prove that the sample itslef sounds clean.
artifacts do not occur if pitch slided up
artifacts occur if portamento to note is being used
assumption: this behaviour did not occur in versions prior to v3.4.2, as songs rendered with older version sound fine in places where 3.4.2 generates pops as descriped above.

Renoise install Macintosh external drive
Hi there,
New to Renoise, I’ve been tracking on the Dirtywave M8 for a year and want to check out Renoise!
But I’m also new to Macintosh (just bought a laptop for work) and I don’t understand how to install Renoise on an external SSD.
I’ve downloaded the demo, and put the install program on the external drive. When I launch it from there, it just opens a blank window with Renoise and a few tutorials, and I can directly launch Renoise from this window. But I don’t see any application on the Mac. I can only see the Renoise folder in the Documents, containing the User library forlder.
So I don’t understand: is Renoise only located on the external disk? And is there a way to move the Renoise folder directly on the external drive? I’d like to have a clean portable install on the external drive with nothing on the ocmputer (I have very low storage on this crap).
