It’s been a while since I used Renoise. Previously when you loaded a vsti plugin it looked at an acceptable size.
I’ve been checking out the new Renoise. And now loading my old plugins I see them minuscule.
I have changed the GUI options but I only get Renoise (the program) to resize but not the plugin vsti which still looks tiny.
Is there a solution for this?

Hello,

I’m running osx 12.6 on an M1 macbook pro, and I sometimes use an external dell monitor. When I do, I switch GUI setting “Enable Retina HiDPI Display Support,” as this looks better on a non-apple monitor. However, when in this mode, tooltips will appear on the screen spanning beyond the borders of the monitor:

The tooltips don’t respect monitor size in “non-retina-support mode,” whether the window is positioned on my laptop’s monitor or my dell monitor.

Roland’s Sound Canvas VA worked fine at first. Renoise GUI started freezing after closing the vst window, and would only unfreeze while Sound Canvas was opened.

I closed Renoise and opened it again, and Renoise now crashes while trying to load in the Sound Canvas vst.

I installed renoise 3.2.2 and was able to run the vst normally, so far it is still freezing the gui. hasn’t crashed renoise yet.

Hi there

I am about to upgrade my trusty decade-old Windows 7 Thinkpad to a more modern Windows 10 one.

It looks as though the way to go is to use migration software such as the ones outlined here, perhaps LapLink PCmover or EaseUs Todo, to get Renoise (and everything else, including plugins, Reaper, documents, etc) from the old Thinkpad to the new one.

Has anyone used migration software to update their music PC and how has it gone for you? Any tips and tricks gratefully received!

I’ve just set up a second monitor on my laptop and I’ve noticed that when using some plugins on the other screen, the window position moves up and to the right every time I close and reopen it. It doesn’t take long for the title bar, and eventually the entire plugin window to be inaccessable off screen. The window position is also saved with the song, and I don’t know how to reset it without manually editing the XML inside the XRNS file.

This only seems to happen when I have “'Auto-scale external editor on HiDPI screens” unchecked. With auto-scale enabled, the windows stay where I place them, whether on the primary or secondary display. I have to disable this on a lot of plugins, though (Arturia and Kontakt stuff mostly), or else the GUI will glitch.

Edit: Moved to support/bugs.

Also, I’m using Windows 10, and the 2 screens are both 1920x1080, but scaled differently. Laptop screen is 150% and other screen is 100%

I’m probably reading it wrong, or I’m doing it wrong according to the api, but how do I set the drumkit, distribute or layer mapping on the note-on layer using the api?

Hi,
I was kind of bored today, so this was created this morning.
It’s an attempt at wavetable synthesis, with the fact that 2 samples are still needed for this.
From which and to which sample it will morph.
As the first sample in the instrument, from where and to the second sample in the instrument, where.
The number of samples to be created in the instrument is set,
the style of the transition according to the AD envelope.
You can also set whether the created samples will have a loop and what kind.
And lastly, it is set instrument mapping.

So, I have my audio set up like this:

• Device type: ALSA
• In device: hw:UR22C,0 (USB audio)

And this set up can lean to any kind of glitches

• all audio cuts off
• the DAW slows down to a halt
• the line-in plugin begins to re-boot constantly (as I see it in the pulseaudio’s control panel) causing an annoying clicking sound

When I set “In device” to “none”, everything works fine.

Have anyone ran into these problems? What could be done here? Thanks!

I am a bit overwhelmed by the gigabytes of samples on my harddrive… Also have plenty of drum vsts, but where to find proper retro electro drums? Was it a 808 usually? I doubt that, something other… Is there a vst doing a fine job here?

I have uploaded many tracks I have made through renoise to Soundcloud. Often I find that the way the sound is compressed on Soundcloud creates weird artifacts in my track that did not exist in Renoise, or the rendered .wav. I know this is an issue in many ways outside of Renoise, and is related to mastering a track in general, but does anyone have a suggestion for the best place to upload your tracks that does not create the same artifacts as Soundcloud? If I could just upload full quality .wav files I suspect the artifacts would not appear. I am not trying to advertise my music but my soundcloud is Stream bassfrienderz music | Listen to songs, albums, playlists for free on SoundCloud and all tracks have been made in renoise.

Just as a reference for what I mean, 2.04-2.20 of Stream In The Style Of The Time by bassfrienderz | Listen online for free on SoundCloud . There are artifacts that appear in the track in this time frame, for example, that in no way exist in the .wav file. I suspect some other websites such as bandcamp may not suffer the same compression issues, but I do not honestly know. Interested in any opinions on this general issue with uploading renoise tracks to the net. I know youtube is of course another option. Thank you.

I’ve noticed that If I use any version of Renoise past 3.2 (i.e. 3.3, 3.4), the software doesn’t see the Waves plugins at all.

Steps to reproduce - open Renoise 3.3+ and look in the VST effects list.

Expected results - A “Waves” subcategory with all Waves VST effects listed within

Actual results - All plugins except Waves plugins

Basically, Renoise 3.3, and onward, does not ever register that Waves is there, but 3.2 recognizes all waves plugins up to the most current version (V14).

But I only have the AU version of it. How do I make it so that when VST is detected, it loads the AU, but retains the plugin parameter settings?

A custom sample mashing app designed by Aphex Twin.

I’ve not yet tried this but the description sounds pretty fun,

Samplebrain chops samples up into a ‘brain’ of interconnected small sections called blocks which are connected into a network by similarity. It processes a target sample, chopping it up into blocks in the same way, and tries to match each block with one in its brain to play in realtime.

This allows you to interpret a sound with a different one. As we worked on it (during 2015 and 2016) we gradually added more and more tweakable parameters until it became slightly out of control.

Hi there! I’m new to these forums so if I screw something up lemme know.

I have been trying to do live MIDI devices through an audio interface to Renoise’s input. However, in the middle of recording something there has always been some kind of input glitch that keeps happening. It lasts for a few seconds, but after this happens the instrument is completely off tempo.

I have tried to adjust every setting I could with MIDI and the input settings since I thought it had to do with either MIDI or audio latency, but this problem always keeps popping up no matter what, so it’s not that. This isn’t a unique problem to my audio interface either, as I have tried a cheap RCA to USB input as well and it happened there too.

Is this a common problem with audio inputs within Renoise? Is there some kind of setting that I have to adjust? If not, is this a problem with input or is my machine’s CPU just too slow?

NI just released Komplete 14, and with it comes a brand new version of Kontakt (finally).

unfortunately it acts really strange in renoise. when i load it in under the plugin tab, the kontakt window shows up, and it works fine. but for whatever reason, once i close it i can’t open it again. no matter how much i double click on it in the instruments panel, it won’t open.

if i loaded an instrument into it before closing it, i can still play the instrument, i just can’t open the damn window. no matter if i’m in the plugin tab, the edit tab or whatever.

it only exists as VST3 so maybe that has something to do with it? i don’t have any issues with other VST3 plugins however (except massive x, but at least that’s available as VST2 as well).

kind of a bummer as i’ve been looking forward to an updated kontakt player for ages, and now it’s here and it …sorta works? i just can’t see the damn window.

anyone else?

The envelopes on ms-20 does not retrigger. I often copy a drum groove to the track wich triggers ms-20, wich means that i manually have to enter the off command before every new note.

Is there any tool that automatically insert a off command before every new note? Or other work arounds?
I’ve tried Note Off Tool | Renoise but does not do exactly what i want.
