Renoise LBP Thing suckz!
Hello together!
Why the LBP4 to LBP8 Change, changes the BPM speed in Renoise? In Reason only it change the Raster of midi Notes, when i change from 1/16 to 1/32 Note. I have testet that!!! If i make the LBP chance in Renoise, The Song is speeded up redicolous. And Renoise has no Midi Note Time Scaling function!!! That Suckz like Hell.
maybe for me that is killerthing to end up using renoise

Pattern launching
Sorry if this has been answered already, I did search around first but could only find ancient posts…
Is there a way to launch/trigger patterns on the fly by assigning them to keys on the keyboard (computer or midi) and having them switch in a quantized manner? Also, ideally, to be able to record that sequence in as well.
Hope that makes sense
Cheers

Shortcut for moving to the next note column (skipping Instrument, Vol, FX)
simple feature, but it would be very useful if there was a shortcut for moving left and right to the next note column, automatically skipping Instrument Number, Volume, Delay, FX, etc.
So you could simply enter a Chord by hitting : Q RIGHT R RIGHT Z for example.
I know you can enter a chord by holding shift, but I still would find this easier to try out different notes in different positions and moving around the grid in general.

New User First Experience & Question
Hey guys. Tried Renoise demo a couple of nights ago and gelled with it instantly!!! Really cool program - feels lightweight and powerful. I’ve bought a Polyend Tracker too and look forward to using them together.
One concern, however - On my laptop (2017 i7 MacBook pro Retina) Renoise works super great - really fast and snappy and responsive. HOWEVER on my faster i9 2020 Imac, it is very sluggish! Clicking on buttons has a noticeable delay. The VU meters are all out of time and looks like it has very low frame rate. (I checked the options and it’s set to 60) it’s pretty unusable tbh.
Is that a known issue? Is there a simple way for me to resolve it?
Also one small question… Renoise shows a greyed out version of the pattern above the current pattern. I would like to turn that off, but can’t figure out how. Would be grateful if someone can let me know.
All the best!

My Melody dont fits in the Pattern-Raster
Hello together!
I have the Problem that my actual Melody dont fits the tracker raster. i try to modify the bpm, and the LBP from 4 to 8 but then i must lowering the Songtempo at ridicolous values around 32 bpm. What must i do in Renoise to have that for instance:
Song 125 BPM 4/4 Takt
Trackerraster = Midi Noteraster 1/32 Notes and Renoise should Quantize like other DAW’s.
i have problems with the “off” Note too. Because on the playposition for next note i must place an “off” Note between, or it sound poor. Have anybody a suggestion for me?
happy Tracking

Note coloring by octave?
I think this could be quite useful for arpeggios, to better distinguish between octaves (low notes vs high notes). Maybe as on/off option per track.
Could also be used in different modes like: note in scale(green in scale, red out of scale) or loud note vs quiete note.

Another Orchestral Piece
I used string harmonics to make an almost medieval organ sound which sets the mood quite nicely in the opening, and the rest just sorta happened…
I wrote this track to be less like a menace (for now!), though it does poke through cheekily. Whatcha think?

Highlight best match while searching FX (like a quick launcher)
Imagine when adding an FX that your search query already highlight the best match so you can just press enter and have it inserted. Keep the textfield in focus so you can quickly add in a chain of effects.

Ruby script to extract note values
I tend to use a MIDI keyboard to record musical chords, typically with a piano instrument.
Lately I’ve been interested in learning what chords I’ve played so I can try to recreate them on guitar.
I wrote a short Ruby program that reads an XML file and prints the note data.
You need to have the Nokogiri gem installed.
To use it, select a pattern, copy it (e.g. ctrl-c on Windows), then create a text file named pattern.xml and paste into it (ctrl+v).
Run the script in the same folder as this pattern XML file.
require 'nokogiri' @doc = Nokogiri::XML(open "pattern.xml") @lines_data = {} @doc.xpath("//Line[@index]").each do |line| note = line.xpath("NoteColumns/NoteColumn/Note").text @lines_data[ line[:index].to_i ] ||= [] @lines_data[line[:index].to_i] << note end @lines_data.keys.sort.each do |line| puts "Line #{line}: #{@lines_data[line] }" endThe usual caveats: Works for James, “tested” via practical usage, useful hack to solve a simple problem.
