Rename Midi Ports
Just picked up a new midi interface that is USB compliant so don’t need to fuss around with any software. Only issue I’ve now run into is that I can’t figure out how to rename the midi ports for Renoise to recognize. I’ve tried modifying the Friendly Name within the registry but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas on how Renoise pulls the midi port names?

From Renoise to Logic Pro and not back... unless
I haven’t posted anything in ages because I’ve abandoned the tracker world for a different thing.
And I miss Renoise, for one thing in particular : it’s the single best thing to make full tracks. Period.
It’s so easy to add or remove parts… so easy to add tons of complexity without getting completely lost or ruining everything by a misclick, a misaligned stuff or an automation that didn’t moved with a region.
There’s a reason it’s the de facto breakcore DAW : it makes complexity manageable and it’s a treat.
So, I want to go back on Renoise and only keep logic for final mix down and vocals… And I won’t because of 2 things and 2 things only :
- no multitracking
- no MPE (it sucks at recording midi data)
I’ve seen many posts dating all the way back to 2011 asking for those… I don’t know if they will ever be features of the DAW, nor what’s in the pipeline for the next version nor when the next version will drop but I hope something new and exciting will happen

Would much appreciate any support from Renoise forums, reposts, links on social media.
Its my first release, I’ve used Ableton live and Renoise and I came back to Renoise and can’t seem to find anything better. Heaps of great tracks from the community on here, congrats Renoise users!

Polyend tracker mini
( Polyend Tracker Mini - Other Gear - Elektronauts )
So apparently not an aprils fool
Reveal tonight;
https://www.youtube.com/embed/PVlmbP3Svos
I wonder about the price, if it is <350,- I’m definitely interested, but am reading rumors about it being 600+ euro’s. If the specs & features are below that of the dirtywave M8 I’ll pass, but cool to see the tracker hardware renaissance isn’t over yet.

MUSIO vst3 problems
MUSIO plugin, a sampler hooked up to a catalogue of sample libraries is very unreliable here.
There’s a free trial at https://musio.com/

Renoise Gamepad Support
https://www.youtube.com/embed/FZCzi4CNoVs
Advocating for native gamepad support in Renoise. Existing external methods have large drawbacks, while the ability to run Renoise on Raspberry Pi and Steam Deck makes the native solution highly desirable.

JSON Error message tool updater
Does anyone know what this means?
When clicking the tool updater in the help menu I’m getting this message:
Sometimes it’s working. Maybe a server problem?
It’s on MXLinux.

WHen I press the F1-F2-F3 keys some plugins automatically ( sonic charge cyclone ) as keyboard shortcuts while 'enbale keyboard ’ is ticked off

Some vsts don't sound
I have a very strange problem (I had months ago, then I had solved in some way): I downloaded Monster Synth free vst, it was ok, every instruments sounded well. The day after, no sound for any instrument. I tried with other downloaded vsts, they’re ok. But the same problem is with Surge xt vst. Unfortunately, I don’t remember how I solved the problem, months ago.

New tool(3.4.2): Mosquito
Hello,
An attempt at 2 modulator FM for creating samples.
The basic frequency of the wave from the modulator is still modulated using the envelope.
Both modulators still have the option of feedback signal back to their input.
The full version so far contains 15 waves for each modulator.
It works to save both the envelope and the instrument itself.
The demo has only 4 waves and no load and save data.

Drone ambient albumn based on renoise ringmods
Hi All,
So I run my own netlabel trying to finish material made only with Renoise and release various types of music made with Renoise.
In this case a few pieces using Renoise ringmods, LFOs and delay effects, There are no softsynths in these mods, just native Renoise.
It’s known as the Cymatics EP because I tried to envision what these kind of things would look like on a Chladni plate but I don’t own one…

Using clap plugin format in linux
So there’s a new synth out in the wild https://nakst.gitlab.io/altitude/ which I’m using inside Reaper. But it’s only available in clap format, not as a VST or VST3.
I’d like to use in renoise, because it’s simple to use, looks great, sounds good and I like it very much.
There’s a clap-to-VST3-wrapper (https://github.com/free-audio/clap-wrapper) and it compiles without error on my linux system, but the GUI doesn’t work correctly and so I can’t use it in renoise, which is a bad thing.
So either renoise will support clap in the near future (which won’t happen due to a reduced renoise development team) or the plugin gets released as VST3 (which won’t happen due to limited funds of the plugin developer).
Maybe there’s another clap wrapper which works on linux?
thanks

I would like advice on the best way to choose notes from the selection.
This works for me about halfway.

Hold Phrase Tool
Looking for a tool that can hold a phrase and continue looping without having to hold the trigger note.
Being able to trigger the phrases IN the phrase editor(this might be a stretch though)
And lastly an option to send all currently playing phrases to the pattern editor.
Any takers?

Scroll Phrase Editor
Is there a way to have the phrase editor scroll when recording/playing like the pattern editor?

CDP Wish: A set of CDP functions that 'just work'
So, I gave it another whirl, it’s great, and it’s a major PITA
I got some to work, some are asking for external files, some just don’t work. Yet, there are sounds to be mined from this beast. I wish that these were simply Tools built-in to Renoise that work. Since y’all know me, I won’t use VST/AU, because I am a PITA I’m currently using this to create another album entirely from @martblek’s various Tools. It’s working.
BTW, I do own several plugins that do spectral/FFT processing, and yeah, I could use those. I’m not gonna. Renoise is my own little special sound-processing sequencing beast and I want it to be all-internal. The CDP Tool works as such. I truly dislike using external plugins - I enjoy the visual minimalism of Renoise. Gimme some sliders and knobs that match my color scheme, and yeah, I know that I could make the plugins look like that, c’mon… and yeah, CDP is external too. It shouldn’t be. It’s open-source now, I believe.
What would be nice is a CDP tool that would take each one of those _cdprogs and became something built-in to Renoise. Separate 'em, make better descriptors, with zero errors. Just to work on the sound in the sampler, not ask me for outside sounds or files. Helping us get us the sounds we want, right off the bat, so we can spend more time composing.
Ah, one can wish, no?
