Tech Step commencing
I think I am going to make a Tech Step track.
Some comments before. I think it would be better to have an 18dB filter only, to simplify things. (One does not need confusion in choice here.) Also the old school hex command input, should be replaced by automation curves. A general tightening up of the tracker interface possibly. Not so many Oscilloscopes, two (stereo) is enough.
Tech Step also is a tightening up of Trance. One grew tired of phasey trackeq+mastereq+multiband sound a long time ago. This tries for a subband saturation only, over Low ratio compression if any, to clip sound.
Anyone else into Tech Step?

4 track live looper Doofer (prototype)
Hey all,
Here is a doofer I made inspired by a renoise student’s lesson. It is an LPC synced 4 track live looping doofer that allows for line input (microphone) or looping of any audio stream that you insert it into.
Macros are as follows:
Macro 1: input select “ø,1,2,3,4” determines which tap of the mtdelay unit is being used for audio buffering. ø is no input to the looper. This honestly isn’t super useful in this iteration of the looper, but in a future version I will allow for more creative control of individual inputs/“tracks”
But it does allow you to bypass looper recording when set to ø, so you can jam over your loops
Macro 2:“on>mute” This mutes the output of the looper without clearing the recording buffer
Macro 3: “clear/kill” this clears the recording buffer whenever this macro is moved. All recorded audio is deleted, never to return
Macro 4: “sync LPC” This controls the loop rate in multiples of 2 LPC. 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, and 255 LPC are all available. 255 may not be that useful lol
Macro 5: “FB” controls the feedback level on all delay taps/buffers simultaneously. Allows for negative feedback values as well. Perhaps you don’t want a true looper, but only a long delay. Use this one. Otherwise set and forget at max value for 100% FB
Macro 6: “LP freq” The taps all have LP filtering enabled. this sets the cutoff frequency for all taps simultaneously. Offering further sound sculpting possibility if used as a long delay unit. Otherwise set and forget at max value.
Macro 7: “line input” This is a simple switch which enables a line input device for recording from external audio input into the looper. Of course, you will need to set up your recording preferences accordingly
Hope this is useful to some of you out there. Let me know if it gets some use, and I’d love to hear any live looping renoise jams you come up with.
I will probably make an improved version of this sometime. Or maybe not. Life is full

New Tool (3.4): TimeFriendo v0.1 (BPM to miliseconds and hertz reference)
Hi, everyone.
This is my first super simple Renoise LUA tool.
It automatically calculates time divisions in miliseconds and hertz for the current BPM.
I made it mostly as a reference chart for my VCV Rack patches but also to set up release times for some synthesizers and even compressors.
Thanks to @esaruoho for helping me with the table formatting and providing some LUA instructions for my newbie *ss.
You can assign a keybind to open the window (I recommend Shift+ ’ to be close to the metronome, which is ').
Feel free to modify and do whatever you want to the tool, just post here so everyone can benefit from it.
Download HERE
Some ideas for the future:
- Add buttons to multiply/divide/offset time divisions
- Quickly copy values by clicking on them

Issue with program changes for VST3 plugins
Hi, Renoise seems to have an issue when automating program changes for VST3 plugins. I am trying to get Korg’s modwave & wavestate native plugins change the current patch for a live performance. Their manual says:
.
Renoise cooperates well when changing the program from the Plugin page:
But unfortunately it doesn’t work when using Intr. MIDI Control device, M2 command or sending a program change MIDI message from my controller.
Since Renoise is already able to change the program when selecting from the Plugin/Program UI, this seems more like a bug or incomplete feature to me. I don’t have any other VST3 plugin that accepts PC to try, but VST2 plugin program changes work as expected.
Would be really happy to have this working, let me know if I can provide more info.

The pattern editor hangs / lags when my project is running
UPDATE
fixed the issue by disabling “auto rescan when hot plugging devies”
i noticed it was constantly scanning every 20 seconds or so and saying ‘found 4 input and 4 output midi devices’ at the bottom of the screen.
Now its playing 200 bpm breakcore with 10 channels no problems.
Thankyou for the help !

Roland JV880 emulation
Just found this on kvr audio , it’s awesome
An emulation of the jv-880 chipset + loads the original jv rom boards
The jv880 is the first rompler that could load the legendary sr-jv expansion cards
Go get the Roms before they dissapear , atm it’s just a sample playback machine but damn it sounds good .
Comparing it with my roland INtegra ( which all the srx cards build i ) , it sounds bloody awesome

Bandcamp (artist account)
So let’s say you’re a (european) hobby musician and you would like to upload some of your music on Bandcamp for fun and to maybe get some additional small pocket money. Your real job is selling whatever online, for example on eBay or Amazon. Your real job and your hobby are two totally different businesses. So should you register as a trader or not? The description is pretty confusing:

Has anyone composed anything orchestral in Renoise?
I’m curious to know if anyone has ever completed an orchestral track in Renoise before. All I’ve been seeing on YouTube is just jungle drum and bass. Not a dig at anyone making that kinda stuff; I like a bit a jungle myself :), but I feel like Renoise is powerful enough where you can do so much with it. This is a question that’s been burning into my conscience recently and I just want to get it out of the way. I’d like to know your responses, if I may.

macOS fullscreen issues: gray bar + missing window buttons
Brief description:
Gray sidebar appears when exiting fullscreen via Alt + green button on macOS. Also, the red/yellow/green window buttons are missing in fullscreen mode.
Steps to reproduce:
- Launch Renoise on macOS
- Enter fullscreen mode (e.g. via green window button or Control + Command + F)
- Observe that the red, yellow, and green window buttons are not visible in fullscreen
- Exit fullscreen
- Hold Alt and click the green window button to make the window fill the screen (without entering fullscreen)
- Observe the right edge of the window
Expected results:
- The three window buttons (red/yellow/green) should be visible in fullscreen, or hidden in a standard way depending on macOS behavior
- Alt-clicking the green button should expand Renoise to full window size with no visual glitches
Actual results:
- In fullscreen, the window buttons are not shown (no way to exit fullscreen with mouse)
- In windowed full-size mode (Alt + green button), a gray vertical bar appears on the right side
Description:
The gray bar only shows up when using the Alt + green button method in windowed mode. It does not appear in fullscreen. Also, in fullscreen mode, the absence of macOS window controls (close/minimize/maximize) makes exiting fullscreen less intuitive.

Duplicate pattern(s) - Turn additional # off in namefield
Hi,
When I duplicate a row patterns, a # is added at the beginning of the name of the pattern, does anybody know if I can turn this off? I would just like to have the same name, or an empty field name, like in the source patterns I duplicated.
I’m always busy deleting the # after duplicating a row of patterns
Thanks

[SUGGESTION] Add 'Touch' Setup button to XY Pad
There are some plugins that have XY values + a Touch parameter. Korg Kaoss Pad being one of the best examples. XY Pad seems visually shows that its receiving touch data (click and hold) but it would be amazing if that could also be assigned to a parameter on an additional Setup button. For Kaoss Pad that would be basically to turn the fx on and off, but seems like this could be used in any number of creative ways for any plugin.

Loading Samples from pCloud makes Renoise stuck
I have my sample collection on pCloud with a 100 Mbps download speed. When I load samples (do not have to be large) into Renoise, Renoise sometimes hangs and I have to kill it, because it does not recover by itself. Even after pressing “wait”. Same happens with Reaper.
Seems pCloud transfer is sometimes pretty slow. As a first solution I set the timeout value higher from 5 s to 30 s as described here via the dconf editor:
