Keytracking Multiple Comb Filters
Alright, I’ve been able to create a pad from six (6) tuneable comb filters. Here’s the example:
Comb+Digital +Analog Filter Bank.xrni (1.5 MB)
I took a noise sample that I liked, lowered the volume down a lot, and have a really nice ambient noise ‘pad’ that can be tuned into chords with knobs. Great!
Now, what if I wanted to control the tuning of the entire sound?
Say I’ve got a chord going, it sounds great, but I want to drop it a 5th the next time I strike a note? How would I get all 6 tuned comb filters to pitch themselves downward simultaneously?
Is there a way to hook up a keytracker or some other device to trigger such a reaction?

Livelink for a videoplayer or a videoeditor to sync music and beats
Hello Renoise Team…over the years we love your program every day a bit more and now we never will think about it to do our works without it.
Here came our idea to build a Livelink ( such as unreal and character creator and Iclone (reallusion ) have to compose picture synced music or soundtracks or fxsoundlines for intros and image films.
It should sync to a videoplayer (mpc-player or similar ) or a videoeditor
We think it must have a function to sync the movement inside Renoise BMP-Speed to the video. If the we scroll forward or backward in the song the video also scrolls synced FW or BW. is this possible to create such a plugin?
we enjoy hearing from you and hope somebody can realize this idea? With best wishes and a good time…gon on with your great wor.

Get pattern position in sequencer
So, this function runs when I move up/down in pattern sequencer, but it usually prints previous pattern position. Am I doing it wrong?

Alter Phrase speed reproduction or arpeggio
Sorry for the noob question, Is there a way to alter phrase speed or bpm ?
Like having a song run at 90 bpm and the phrase at 120 or more.
Or… is there a simple way to create an arpeggio?

The Subtle Art of Modern Pop Production
Creating bass waveform
Hi,
I know I could use samples and forget about this, but just trying to learn a bit.
I am trying to get more into synthesis using renoise only and in particular looking at bass at the moment. I wanted to try to create something that approximated a bass guitar. I came across this tutorial for massive which is exactly the sort of tone I’m looking for.
I realise that renosie does not have a wavetable synth but with the brilliant custom synth and selection shaper tools I feel it might be possible to approximate the ‘bender’ waveform that is used in the massive patch. This gif shows that the bender waveform dials from a pure sine through to a spike with a low duty cycle. The patch modulates the wavetable to deform the sine wave with an envelope. I sampled the patch waveform from the tutorial and can see the underlying form is a sine wave skewed with a 30% duty cycle and another waveform in the 70% half of the wave. I sampled the bass in the intro to Dazed and confused and the approximate repeating waveform is quite similar to that in the massive patch.
Can anyone see how I could recreate or approximate this patch in renoise using more primitive sampled waves + modulation/filter?
Thanks,
Ross

8BitM8 - New Hardware Bit Crusher!
Hello!
I’ve just released a bit crusher pedal inspired by the tonal qualities of vintage samplers, MPCs and the love of lo-fi sounds.
It comes hand made in a rugged metal enclosure packed with high quality components which include a genuine arcade button.

I made a script for linux renoise users that lets you play notes with PC keyboard while focused on a plugin window
Hi!
I was always annoyed that in linux renoise version you have to always change focus from a plugin window to DAW window if you want to play a few notes and see how it sounds.
So I made a very simple script that uses xdotool to solve this issue. It basically waits for focus change events and as soon as one happens, it switches focus back to the renoise window.
You can just download it, put it into ~/bin or ~/.local/bin or /usr/local/bin depending on your distro and personal preferences, make it executable with chmod +x and use
permafocus.sh start to fix the focus at currently focused window, permafocus.sh stop to stop it and permafocus.sh toggle to, well, toggle it.
You might have to install xdotool to use it.
Suggested use would be to use your window manager or hotkey daemon to bind this script to some key combination. I personally use win+s to toggle permafocus.
I hope this is helpful to somebody here.

Use renoise as a live instrument (Multitrackloop station)
Hi !
Since my begining of renoise, my music production changed a lot and recently moved toward “Playing” i have now an akai mpd218 and a novation mk3 that i would like to use with renoise.
So i would like to see how you do it, and give my some ideas or thought.
One problem i have right now is renoise do not magnet recorded notes to beat, is it possible to block the delay recording ?
Thank tyou all

Trouble Initializing Insert ASIO Driver
Hello all, I’m hoping that someone might be able to figure out what, if anything, I might be doing wrong when trying to access one of my ASIO drivers in Renoise. To give a quick summary, I’m using Voicemeeter Potato to do all of my audio routing and part of the software is a Virtual Insert ASIO driver, allowing software such as a VST host or DAW (in this case, ideally Renoise) to have access to each of the inputs and outputs of the Voicemeeter mixer. In total there are 34 I/O channels, and the plan was to not only use Renoise for music creation but also to be an effects insert for my mic and instruments before they are even sent anywhere else. However, every time I attempt to choose the driver in question, it fails to initialize, as shown in the following picture:
For reference, I am currently using Voicemeeter’s third virtual strip (labeled VAIO3) as the normal output for Renoise, and using a roundabout method to send my microphone input for processing, but it would be much easier having direct access to each of the strips using the driver. Now, you may notice that in addition to the Voicemeeter Potato insert driver, there is also just a standard Voicemeeter insert driver. That one is used on the previous version of Voicemeeter called Voicemeeter Banana, and to my surprise that one works. Unfortunately, Banana is not as full featured as Potato, and I can only have one version running at any given time, and the standard insert driver only has as many channels as Banana uses anyways (22 I/O). Here’s a comparison:
Currently I have tried reinstalling both Renoise and Voicemeeter from scratch, but nothing seems to get it to initialize. At first I thought it certain that Voicemeeter was to blame for all of this, that the driver was simply bugged, but just to be sure I checked on whether I could use it on other software, and to my surprise it worked. So far I’ve only tested Image-Line’s Minihost Modular and OpenMPT, but it connects to either of them without any issues. (Actually, Minihost Modular only allows me to access 30 of the 34 pins for some reason, OpenMPT shows all possible outputs)
So yeah, at this point I’m at a loss. I’d like to be able to take advantage of this driver but I can’t find anything to help me solve this mystery. Any help would be appreciated on this front. For reference, I’m using Renoise version 3.2.1, Voicemeeter Potato version 3.0.1.3, and Windows 10 version 1903.
Thank you!

Classic Hip Hop Playlist
So I made quite a few hip hop beats in Renoise in 2018 -19 and have just got round to finalising them and sharing them online (lockdown life!).
I’ve shared a few previously but thought it would be best to put them all in a playlist on soundcloud so it’s a collection from that time. It was just me having fun riffing on themes from some of my favourite producers but in doing so I think I found my own sound.
I’m working on new music now so feels good to draw a line in the sand and release this set.
And I enjoyed using Renoise. One question though… I use swing a lot, is there a way to add it to individual tracks instead of globally?

Notes in Renoise different than original (Depeche Mode - Stripped)
Hello everyone, this is my first post here
I have a question (probably a noob one, so sorry for that). I’ve downloaded Renoise few days ago and I’m just trying it out; I’ve chosen that tool because I grew up with trackers like ProTracker and FastTracker. Since I’m a Depeche Mode fan, I’m currently playing with some DM samples and I wanted to recreate their song “Stripped”.
So here is my question… as you can see in the video (if you don’t already know the song) the lead synth is starting at 1:25 -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XVBiRqvTCE … and the notes are following (as in the video):
C-4, D-4, G-4, G#4, B-4, E-4, B-4, E-4
… but B-4 and E-4 at the end sound totally wrong; This sounds far more correct:
C-4, D-4, G-4, G#4, A#4, D#4, A#4, D#4
First I thought there’s something wrong with the sample, but when I take one of the Renoise piano instruments, the result is the same. How this could be? And again, sorry if this is a dumb question, I’m a beginner.
Thanks you!

New Tool (3.2): The Deliverer
Effortless Deliverables
The Deliverer is a batch rendering and archival tool for collecting mixdowns, stems, Renoise instruments, and raw samples, with customizable destination folders, export formats, and flexible naming for stems and mixdowns.
Other render tools didn’t fit my workflow, so I created The Deliverer to fill those voids. It can batch render any combination of Master mixdown, individual track stems, and grouped track stems (submixes), with customizable filenames and destination folders for each.
I built it to just work, with reasonable defaults for most use cases. It doesn’t render selections, it doesn’t export patterns separately, it just renders the song and all its stems—it’s my replacement for Renoise’s default Render To Disk dialog.
It’s also capable of exporting all XRNI instruments, and even raw samples, with each output sample filename encoded with information to make rebuilding an instrument easier (in a far future, dystopian post-Renoise world).
I also added preset management to be able to recall per-client, per-use case, or per-project settings easily.

- Specify custom folder for exported raw samples (default: “Samples/”)
- Export sliced samples separately
- Setting: Flac or Wav for exported samples
- Add support for custom naming scheme
- Add preset management
- Make sure selected base paths exist, create if not
- Automatically create a containing folder based on song name
- Fixed: If song is unsaved (new song), automagic file naming breaks
- Decouple factory presets from user presets for saving/loading separate XML files, to avoid missing out when updates to factory settings are pushed
- Untested on Windows (confidence: 80%)
- Untested on Linux (confidence: 100%)
- v0.8: com.dlt.TheDeliverer.v0.8.xrnx (27.8 KB)
Please give it a go and let me know if you run into any problems. Stay safe out there—and make adventurous music.
