Amiga User Now Using Renoise
Hello. I’m Mark Salud. I used to create music mods using the Amiga computer and OCTAMED. You may have seen my stuff in Aminet or any Amiga-related sites.
After a very long hiatus, I am back creating music again, I have used Renoise to create at least 36 songs, all uploaded in https://www.youtube.com/tvpmark
Last Saturday I was interviewed by Mad Wasp Radio about my musical journey. It will air tomorrow on MapWaspRadio.com if you’re interested.

What is the best way to use swing in renoise on a vst?
What is the best way to use swing in renoise on a vst?
So not on a sample but triggering a vst?
Are there any good plugins for this that add swing inside the track/pattern.
Without changing speed using the codes.
Thank you for your help.

Missing favorites list
I’ve noticed this with the latest version that after opening Renoise, the favorites list in the plugins dropdown is not there sometimes, but when I close Renoise and open it again, then it is. Anyone else?

Class functions in table problem
Hello,
I have a few functions that belong to the class.
I want to have these in a table from which I will use the value to select a stored function that I will then run.
Unfortunately, this does not work in class. What is the reason ?
OOP limitations in Lua ?
If the function is outside the class, there is no problem. I’m just interested in this.

Clavier compatible
Bonsoir,
Nous voudrions acheter un clavier midi mais non ne savons pas vers lequel nous diriger., un qui serait compatible avec renoise.
J ai la possibilité d’avoir un Roland Edirol Pcr 800 midi controller.
Pouvez vous m’aider et me dire si cela serais suffisant?
Merci a tous pour vos retours
Jennifer

SampleDSP VS. TrackDSP Quality differences?
Hello,
I use renoise for my sample-based song bases (triphop/downtempo) and noticed that the exact same DSP chain (with external VST) sound much better when put on the TrackDSP lane than on the SampleDSP lane.
Is there an explanation for this?
Greetings

New Tool (3.4.3) Paste Sample Selection v1.0 build 002 (October 2023)
The Paste Sample Selection uses the selection without using clipboard copy so you can paste the selection after the selection itself or at the end of the audio waveform via new key commands.
When you paste, it will automatically select the pasted area, so you can repeat the operation to create continuous pastes.
It is possible to combine the new keyboard commands with the classic CTRL-C and CTRL-V to enhance combined control.
To assign the three new keyboard commands: Go to “Renoise:Edit/Preferences/Keys/Global/Tools/ ~ PSS …”:
- Clone Sample Selection After End (includes the data)
- Clone Sample Selection Continuously (includes the data)
- Paste Sample Selection Continuously (overwrite the data)

Latency on live recordings
I started working on a track and recorded some guitar without any noticeable latency problems, but a day later when i tried to record some more the latency was suddenly very high. I tried restarting the PC, but latency was still horrible. Then i turned off all the effects on all tracks, but still the latency suck balls.
I’m not sure if the problem is caused by Renoise, could perhaps be my sound card, but i checked the settings and it’s set to 5ms which i’m not supposed to notice. The experienced latency is probably more like half a second or more.
The cpu usage is less than 5%, so that shouldn’t be an issue. I also turned off most of the apps running in the background.
I can’t understand what i may have done to cause this. Any ideas?

Equal Block Divider
What about a block divider? I’m thinking about a function that works like the separate funktion, but instead of just separating once at line, it will divide the block in equal blocks of the same size, if possible.
So, for example, you can divide a 16 lines block into 4 4 line blocks at line 04, but if you divide at line 05, you will get 3 blocks with length 5 and 1 with length 1.
That would be great for re-arranging large blocks in particular.
All the best,
Michael aka Minkepatt

Overtone Pitch Shifting Modifier
Hi,
What about a FX-modifier that covers the harmonic series? This FX would manipulate the pitch of a sample like Dxy and Uxy, but not based to parts of harmonics instead of semitones.
Fortunately, Hxy is still not in use (unknow effect number), so you could give this behaviour to it:
x divides the frequency of a pitch by n+1
y multiplies the frequency by n+1
Taking the n+1 equation, you would avoid a division by 0 and a range of four octaves with each variable. H0F will take a pitch four octaves up, HF0 four octaves down. In between, you may have any pitch treatments that will be harmonically correct in a certain way.
All. the best,
Michael aka Minkepatt

Behringer synth USB/midi connection problems
Good morning, I have a problem with the Behringer modules (model d, pro 1, wasp, cat) I connected the synthesizers via USB cable. I set a different midi channel on each module. This configuration works fine on other Daw but on Renoise it doesn’t. It only recognizes one synthesizer, 3 others don’t. Has anyone had the same problem? thank you for all the information you give me, see you soon Leonardo

Parameter automation "overrides"?
Suppose I have a filter with a 5kHz cutoff, but I want to set it to 1kHz for a few lines. If I insert commands to set it to 1kHz and then 5kHz, all of the lines before the first command will also be 1kHz, so I need to insert a 5kHz command before the 1kHz as well. Not only that, but if I decide I want the rest of the song to actually be at 7kHz, I have to go back and change both the ‘before’ and ‘after’ command. The behavior I’d like is that I can insert a command to temporarily set the parameter to 1kHz, similar to how the volume/pan columns only set the parameter for that one line, and not have to worry about what the old value is.
I can somewhat get this behavior by actually having two filters and turning them on and off, labeling them ‘normal filter’ and ‘temporary high-pass’ or whatever, but that seems clunky. Any suggestions?

I need all useful suggestions for a new Ultimate calculator app
Okay, so guys, dish out all the helpful features of a calculator? I am getting the hang of programming a multi-purpose calculator, but it would be non-xrnx. I don’t think an xrnx file would work well unless there’s way too many windows that pop up in Renoise, it’ll be very strange to implement. Plus I was making a separate app before that one I posted a while ago that I sent, that actually tunes the C-4 Key of an A-4 Key reference tuning original key and you can get the fine-tune value to adjust, I actually don’t know how useful that is actually, probably it’s a stupid idea, I guess I was just having fun with it. If you use specific types of calculators yourself, anywhere online or anywhere else strictly for music. Tell me what they are. And of course you can trust my bin files, why would I screw up my Renoise Forum Account and my registration? I read that reply somewhere on one of those posts. When I was a teenager I wanted to make viruses, now as a middle-aged man, I want to dish out free apps. I made an Ultimate Password Generator, a Cipher/Decipher app among other things. I just wish I had a Mac and a Windows computer, so I can make sure they’re bug free. >_< I would suggest dual-booting with the distro AntiX Linux which I use, you can use Windows VSTs on it through a wrapper. And This AntiX on a netbook boots on a 5,400 RPM hard-drive like UEFI booting. It’s pretty damn fast and Windows 10 took forever to boot on this thing that I use. And it’s actually more useful than Windows. And very snappy and responsive on this low-grade machine I use. If you don’t want to dual-boot, I guess an VM emulator? LMFAO! where am I even going with this? okay, bye.
