LFO-driven Note Delay
@Neuro_No_Neuro wrote:
So, after listening to countless generative patterns via other sequencers, one thing that’s caught my ear that I cannot seem to do in Renoise is to modulate the delay time for a note to start.
We can set a delay time in the pattern sequencer, which is really great for note strumming and other bits of slop that we want to emulate, like drumming swing/shuffle. But, I have not found a way to set an LFO to modulate that delay time, nor have I found a way to automate it either.
In my head I have this idea of a swinging wind-chime, like the one you may or may not have in the backyard. Depending on the wind’s speed, the chiming may speed up or slow down. I’d love to be able to modulate that sort of effect. I tried it with the PDC Delay Test device, because I thought that introducing latency might make up for it, but it either causes intense bit-reduction on sloped LFO waveforms, and on squared off LFO waveforms, it just becomes a glitchy on/off effect. Cool for glitch/granular effects, but not what I’m looking to do.
Any other ideas that maybe I’ve missed?

Duplicate effect device

Please add duplicate device to the context menu and as shortcut (CTRL+D). Its already there for instruments, but i miss this in effects. Simple but effective feature.

Disk Browser location
@dspasic wrote:
Hi everyone, i’m just curious if we can make renoise 3.2 look like older versions - specific for disk browser to be on top rather than on the right side?

Ableton Live Link integration
@helltrack wrote:
Rewire works great for routing Audio, but if Link would be integrated into Renoise, it would be perfect for slaving Ableton’s Timeline (and other Apps) to Renoise. <3

Loving the Timestretch feature, would be great if the team could implement some more old school lofi option, a bit like Bitwig.

Render audio with renoise as clock slave
@foodbank wrote:
Heya - I have renoise slaved to a Roland MX-1 which I’m using for transport + clock. The MX-1 is also syncing external gear.
Is there a way to render a song to audio but start playback from the MX-1? In render sample I can wait to start but in render song there doesn’t appear to be the option?
Thanks!

Is it possible to trigger Live clips from Renoise

that might be silly. Don’t ask why.

Midi mapping maybe ?
Thanks

Improved management of AUs
@ffx wrote:
@taktik Found some info about macos AudioComponentRegistrar and wanted to share with you. Regarding the audiounit scanning, you might

restart the “AudioComponentRegistrar” process before scanning, so AudioUnits, which were installed after renoise was opened, will be found, too. Please read here: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7512145#p7512145

as well use that AudioComponentRegistrar for fully search audiounits, so getting rid of you own custom code?
Currently Renoise always needs to be restarted, for seeing newly installed AUs. So manual scanning is a bit misleading here, the way it currently behaves.

Autoseek weirdness 3.2
@Snares wrote:
Getting this odd thing with Autoseek in 3.2 where earlier in a tune lots of tracks going with Autoseek are fine, then later, around 3min in only some autoseeked samples play properly if you play a pattern mid file. It’s as though they aren’t autoseeked. Is there a limit to how many autoseeked samples there can be?

Render global pitch?
@snaper wrote:
Hi Guys,
Is it possible to render the global pitch setting for a sample (instrument)?
I’m working on a bunch of single cycle waveforms, checked for key, set the pitch settings for all of them to be in key and now I’d like to use them outside Renoise, but, I do not want to re-start the whole cutting procedure again :S

Renoise Community Song Collab V1!
@LegendaryTaunt wrote:
So how about we all collab on a Renoise song?
I’ve started this sketch and I would love for the community to build upon it until we have a completed tune.
Let’s try to set some constants though.
-
For this song, the bpm is 130 and LBP set to 4. Let’s try to work within those constraints this time and if things go smoothly then maybe someone can switch gears and do something different.
-
In the song comments, note what you did as the top most comment but keep the previous comments so we can “track” who did what.
-
If you add/create any samples, make a header for yourself in the instrument section and list your name and throw your samples in there.
-
Try not to delete anyone else’s work, but do put your own spin on things.
-
Try add something as fast as you can and re-upload so that the next person can join in.
-
Don’t use any external vst’s/instruments when you save and submit. This is to maintain consistently when another person grabs the project. if you have to use external vst’s or instruments, just render what you’ve added and then add it to a channel, then delete the instruments. Now we won’t have to worry about not having plugin X or Instrument Y to play the song.
This is a beta and if all goes well someone can start Round 2 with a new song and we can all contribute to it.
Please add something as fast as you can and then re-upload. If it gets to a point to where you think you have an arrangement idea, then do it!
Also, when you reply, please note what you did in this this thread just to give the next person a heads up.
Ready?
Renoise Song Collab V1 Initial:
- adds chord melody
- adds bass (can be changed)
- adds muted lead sound
- adds hi hat sound (can be removed or changed. It’s just a placeholder)
Here is the project file: http://bit.ly/RenoiseCollabV1
Let’s do this!

Workflow Tips 2019
@Garf wrote:
Let’s share TIPS that makes us work FAST in Renoise in 2019 even those you may think are obvious.
-
In the lower effects panel. Right click the spacing between effects and Add Favorite effect. Up until today I have actually used the search bar, but that’s just slow and stupid for selecting favorites hence this thread.
-
Do set up a full template song with all the essential tracks and groups you know you always use, even insert a couple of your most used instruments and kick samples.
-
If you must have a mastering chain on when composing then make a rudimentary using only native effects as they are low latency. Even effects that are turned off on the mastering chain still add their latency to the song and with commercial effects usually adding quite a lot of latency that quickly becomes an issue. When you are finished fiddling with your song do a proper mastering job.
