Saturation to add even harmonics, maybe even octaves only

September 16, 2019 - 13:53

@ffx wrote:

I am looking for such a saturation plugin, which lets me control the added harmonics, so I could only add octave harmonics, or even harmonics. I have seen such a plugin, but I sadly cannot remember it. Any ideas?

Melda has such plugins, but I cannot use it, due heavy PDC caused by the used FFT approach. So I need a plugin which also has only little or none PDC.

In theory, if I want to add the exact octaved harmonics to a played sound, would it require frequency or pitch analysis, or is there some kind of magical basic math algorithm?

How do I set the decay (or length) of a sample (say a Hi-Hat)

September 15, 2019 - 20:29

@s0ck wrote:

Hi All,

I’m certain this will have ben asked before (although I can’t find what I think I’m looking for from a Forum Search).

So back in the day I used to use AXS - a hybrid Tracker. If this picture has embedded properly, you can see that it was very easy to change the sample duration in realtime by adjusting a knob (highlighted in yellow) - very handy.

I don’t see an easy way to accomplish the same thing in Renoise - what am I missing?

3/4 beat metronome

September 15, 2019 - 18:03

@Evda wrote:

Right now there’s only a 4/4 beat metronome.

It would be great if you could choose other options, like a 3/4 metronome.

No big deal, as you can always make your own metronome, but it would be even easier than that if it was build into Renoise.

My suggestion is to add NNA functionality for VST’s in renoise, like with normal samples.

New note action using a VST?

September 15, 2019 - 16:01

@Evda wrote:

When using a sample, it is possible to set the NNA (new note action) in the sampler to:

  • Note off
  • Continue
  • Cut

The problem is, these options don’t work when using a VST. Does anyone know if this is possible somehow? Im using a VST, and i don’t want to have the note cut off when a new note gets played in the same track.

(I know you can add seperate note colums in the same track, which would also prevent the notes from cutting, but i would not like to do this if there’s a better way.)

Files Missing from Backstage

Hello,

I’m experiencing a weird bug where files from backstage is missing. I’m using firefox on a Windows 10 1903 machine. I’ve tried to disable the adblocker to no avail. It also seems like my account information is missing too, even while logged in!

I’ve attached screenshots of the error messages. Maybe that can help!

NI plugins have UI glitches

Getting some UI glitches with Native instrument plugins.
Happens in both full screen and windowed.

The plugins load fine but when you navigate the menus inside the NI plugs you get some glitches. Audio is fine. They have been updated recently and I had no issue with a demo version of Renoise 3.1

Renoise 3.2.0
My display resolution is 2560 x 1440
my scaling setting in renoise is 125%

Hard to read long descriptions in shortcut list

September 15, 2019 - 11:40

@ffx wrote:

Would be helpful, if either

  • the line was shorted and fully shown on mouse-over
  • the first column was using line breaks
  • there was more width
  • at least the shortcut name was also printed on the settings dialogue below, this time fully readable

Thanks

After user Prosper Proper added his version to the Renoise forum I decided to take this song for remixing. The edit 2 was made later from the MIDI file included in the remix competition.

The remix competition can be found at http://facebook.com/gleize.events

Neat online waveform generator

Wanting to formulate some FM waveforms by myself, and have a greater visual input and instant audio changes, I found this here: https://bgc.github.io/waveformgenerator/#/

Yeah, I know we have a bunch of waveform generators in Renoise, I found 'em all. This one just provides a bunch of ideas and provides instant, visual feedback on what is going on. Outputs single cycle waveforms and you can drag 'n drop 'em into Renoise. Quick and easy.

I wanted that Taco Bell FM piano sound. Made it in like 10 seconds. Nice!

Duplicate VST plugins loaded on macOS Mojave

September 14, 2019 - 16:25

@LegendaryTaunt wrote:

Description:

When I click on a VST plug-in to load, Renoise sometimes will load two instances of the plugin instead of one.

Currently this happens with FabFilter, Soundtoys, IK Multimedia, Airwindows, and Toneboosters plugins. Once the plugins have been loaded and I delete one, If I click to load it again, only a single instance is loaded this time.

So far this is only with VST plugins since that’s what I use. Don’t know if this is true with AU plugins.

Steps to reproduce look like this:

  1. Launch Renoise
  2. Load a anyVST plugin

Expected results:

Only one plugin instance to load.

Actual results:

Two of the same instance of the plugin loads. i.e. FilterFreak then FilterFreak(1)

FX Plugin problem

September 14, 2019 - 15:13

@justinf wrote:

Sorry if this has been posted before.

I’m having an issue where 3rd party fx plugins are only being trigger for the length of the sample. so as soon as the sample finishes playing the reverb/delay etc is not triggered. it’s rendered delays and reverbs useless.

i can add silence to the end of the sample and can then hear the delay effect, but shouldn’t have to do this. the native fx work fine. Anyone else experienced this? hopefully it’s something simple i’m overlooking? it’s
happened with 3.1 and 3.2.

Cheers

Renoise doesn't start - blue screen

September 13, 2019 - 23:37

@Evda wrote:

Hello, fellow renoise users.

I just decided to pick up making using with renoise again, but, it doesn’t seem to work. I install renoise (licensed version), i try to start it and i get a blue screen that says:

"KMODE_EXEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" "What went wrong: clipsp.sys"

Then the pc reboots.

Seems strange, everything else seems to work fine on my pc, vst’s etc. I already tried re-installing the focusrite drivers, but that didn’t fix it.

My PC:

Intel core I5 4570
8GB Ram
MSI H81M-E34 (motherboard)
Scarlett focusrite 2i4

Anyone got any idea’s?
