How to reduce the amplitude of stepper modulation in the sampler?
I like using the stepper in the sample to provide random values (by randomizing the points) for each trigger.
However I don’t understand if I can lower the amplitude of the modulation.
In fact what I would like is having the stepper act as bipolar modulation with controllable amplitude (lower is negative, upper positive, and middle is null).
Is that possible?

Copy/Paste NOTE OFFs only?
Hi All,
A lamer question: Is there any solution for Copy/Paste only NOTE OFFs?
For example: i have a Track with Notes and NOTE OFFs, and i want to copy only NOTE OFFs to another Pattern(s) on the same Track.
Any idea or suggestion?
Sorry, if there an existing solution, im too lazy!
Thx!

Renoise is still the best for expressive sequencing — do you agree?
I’m one of those eternally torn Logic/Renoise users, now seriously considering switching back to Renoise full-time. (Okay, maybe not 100% — I still need audio tracks, but you get the idea.)
It makes me wonder:
How do people actually put feeling into their music these days?
I’m not talking about vocals or live acoustic instruments, but things like basslines, synth leads, layered pads… all the subtle stuff.
When it comes to note glide, vibrato, precise timing — I haven’t seen anything that rivals Renoise. Maybe there are alternatives, but they sure aren’t easy to use. Don’t get me started on MIDI. (Unless you’re amazing at live playing you would love the MIDI Seaboard keyboard).
Sure, there are tons of things I wish Renoise had. But in the end, I keep coming back to what really matters in music: expression.
That’s what Renoise gives me.
Personally, I still miss ReWire — and I really hope Renoise adds solid Ableton Link support (transport sync etc). Redux also has its problems. And Logic’s handling of program changes? I still don’t understand some things…
For what it’s worth, I even started developing my own AU plug-in — a minimalist tracker-style sequencer. With AI in the mix, it might actually be done within a couple of years. I’m happy to share more about that if anyone’s curious — and hey, I’ll even throw in some free ideas for the Renoise devs while I’m at it.
I know, I probably don’t sound like the happiest Renoise user… But really, I’m just hard to please in general — no hard feelings! I am an optimist. Until the glorious days I’m bouncing between the two DAWs, when necessary, and having fun along the way.
Anyone else made a return to Renoise after years with another DAW?

How to remove only Volumes without Notes?
Can I remove all unused volume values for an entire track or a selection, i.e. volume values without a note in front of them? Volume values with a note should not be deleted.

Crash changing time-stretched sample transposition
I closed my previous thread since I didn’t realize I was on an older version of Renoise (3.4.1), updated Renoise to 3.4.4 and the bug still persists hence the second thread.
Behavior:
Changing the transpose tuning of a sample instrument causes the application to crash during playback of a pattern.
To Reproduce:
- Load a long sample into instrument and place down notes
- Play the pattern
- In sampler tab, change time-stretch algorithm of the instrument to percussive or texture
- Change the tuning of the sample with transpose
Expected Result:
Tuning changes.
Actual Result:
Program crashes.
System:
Renoise 3.4.4
Windows 11
Focusrite USB ASIO drivers, Focusrite 6i6 2nd Gen @ 64 buffer size
AMD 3900x CPU
16GB DDR3 RAM
MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi Motherboard
RX580 GPU
500GB SSD
Latest crash on 2025-05-23, 16:34:15 program start up.

Learning the UI (or not)
Hello all.
I’m excited to get to using Renoise as I recently found out about the tracker workflow and have always wondered how Jungle was made - there was a real lightbulb moment when I realised. I guess it should have been somewhat obvious, hehe.
I’m on a PC, but seem to be having major issues getting used to the foundations of the UI - mouse functions that are ubiquitous across programs and platforms such as click & drag, double clicking or click to select seem to be repurposed in Renoise, but sometimes they aren’t.
Perhaps it’s my ‘old dog’ mentality, but it’s proper getting on my nerves! It’s as though any creativity I have is being stifled by having to realearn how to use a bloody computer, let alone the program.
So, my question is, has anyone encountered a good way of learning the ‘new way’ the mouse works in Renoise? Mods, videos etc, etc.
I’m perfectly willing to learn in order to get what I want done, but I just thought I’d ask people in the know before beginning an endless search of the internet.
Thanks very much in advance for any help!

No way to hide all FX columns with keys?
Every other column can be easily hidden with a keyboard shortcut, but it seems you need to use the mouse to get rid of the very last FX column (i.e. when there is only one). Maybe it would make sense for the “Decrease Number of Columns” shortcut to do this.
I could be missing something, as I vaguely remember some obscure key shortcut that hides all unused columns?

[new tool] Industrializer
Hello,
So, on the impulse of Achenar after watching his video about creating industrial sound (thanks),
I sat down and added some information to my tool and I am also releasing it.
Tool is based on “IXA” synthesis, but since this technology is patented,
it is just my attempt to get closer to it (I’m kidding, I modified it again according to how it suits me).
I try to create industrial and other technical sounds from the field of electrosmog.
Tool: Industrializer
Thanks for your support.

AI can create Renoise Tools from scratch
I’m developing a tool right now using Grok, X’s AI. ChatGPT and Grok both seem capable of creating full-fledged Renoise Tools from scratch if you tell them what you want them to do and how they should work.
I got a lot of errors at first, but I fed those back into the AI, and it was able to figure out its own mistakes and eventually make working tools for me. I was about to give up on Grok programming my tool when I fed its script to ChatGPT, and ChatGPT immediately identified the problem, which I then sent back to Grok.
By no means a seamless process, but it does work.
There is a lot of flexibility—you can even ask it, “Do you have any ideas to improve my tool?” and it will offer all sorts of suggestions.
Worth checking out. You don’t need to know anything about coding at all.

5s max delay time
Hey folks,
I’m working on a live looper made out of native devices, and the 5 second max delay time in Multitap Delay isn’t enough time for the applications I have in mind. Anybody know a workaround?

Midi Mapping fails because of pitch bend
I have the midi controller M-VAVE SMC-Mixer.
Midimapping works great - except the sliders!.
They are delivering pitch wheel values instead of control messages.
Is there any way to get this working in Renoise?

Hi, I'm new. Would like some feedback on my Renoise tracks
I’ve been working on music solely in Renoise for around 5 months now in my spare time. I’ve also recently picked up TouchDesigner to try and add audio-reactive visuals. If any of you could give my youtube playlist a listen and give me some feedback. Perhaps there are Renoise features that I should start using or maybe my mixing feels off in certain tracks. Just let me know. I just want to get better at making music in Renoise and in general. I also want to further develop my own style. Maybe there are even some techniques you all could inform me about. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to listen and give feedback/advice.
