I haven’t really tested this, but do I need to be worried about latency when just using my laptop keyboard to enter notes? Does having a high block size on your audio interface cause latency when you’re just playing notes on the computer keyboard like it would with a midi controller?

Hi there!

In the past I’ve released a few albums on physical support (CD) and that was fine. But for now I would hesitate to release something non digital as everybody mainly listen music on the internet.

But one another way, I fell a physical support show to listeners that the composer is involved into his music (because it’s less easy to do something physical than publishing tracks on the internet). And it’s also a way different to listen.
The problem is I feel it’s harder now for indies to sell, and even share their CD, vinyl or tapes. No?

So I wanted to know, are you still releasing music on physical support? Thinking of it? Or only digital?

Wouldn’t it be cool if tracks could auto-change their name from “track 1” to the name and instrument slot of the instrument being used in them, like “00.BD-808” or “03.crash.wav”? Then of course you could change it to whatever you like, but I end up changing all my track names to “BD” “SD” “bass” after my initial flurry of adding instruments and tracking notes in. It would really save me a step if it intelligently did that for me.

Could this be done as an XRNX?

Uhm, isn’t it an idea having shortcuts for devices/device chains???

e.g. for a send device, command+s and so on? for frequently used devices must be a fast workflow this way if possible of course… for your doofers maybe handy

Hello fellow renoise worshipers

Something i really miss on Renoise is displaying the note i’m pressing when i’m not in edit mode or instrument view. After several years of using trackers i’m definately not able to know by heart the keyboard / notes matches.
I believe it is not possible natively but do you have any trick, lua script, or lightweight third party solution to achieves this?

In Renoise I like to have the exact same cursor as seen in MAC OS, how to accomplish this? caus I have set a dark cursor in MAC but the Renoise one is white and changing screens, it anoys me.

i can’t find system files from Renoise in my Mac.

I’m using “Renoise 64Bit - V3.3.2 (Built: Mar 7 2021)” on a “Mac mini (M1, 2020)” running “macOS 12.2” using a “Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad” (see Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad for Mac models - Apple ) (that is, the most up to date software on the most up to date machine using a currently shipping keyboard).

If I go to the Renoise Preferences window and select “Keys” and then select the “New assignment:” text box and press the right command key on my keyboard, then the text box is filled with “RControl”. Similarly, the physical right control key gets mapped to “RMeta”. The right option gets mapped to “RAlt”, which seems mostly correct, but calling it “ROption” may be more clear.

Perhaps all this is intended behavior, but it certainly confused me.

I want to record more than one input as a sample, how do I go about this? Is there some sort of custom routing that needs to be set up before im in Renoise? I am using a MOTU Ultralite MK3 Soundcard.

So far I have managed to record using Analog 3+4 but I cant add numerous Inputs.

Ok, i know that near nobody using simple sampled instruments for lead synth, becouse everybody using VSTI-s for solo intrument (no looping need, etc) This is good.

The problem is came from this fact. Because I WANT to use a gllisando effect still today but this is inpossible with VSTI-s!

This is a HUGE problem. HUGE.

Another way: I can set up the glissando (portamento) effect in the modulation section of the vsti (for example in the NEXUS) Cool. Awesome.

You can play the vsti with portamento, like magic, but there is no way to WRITE NOTES with portamento to the TRACK!!! Cool. Awesome.

I can sucessfully set up the vsti for portamento, and i can play all notes with portamento… Awesome!

BUT If i write NOTE C-6 for the 00 at the track and C for the 08 at the track Renoise will playback the track WITHOUT portamento. Not awesome.

Can you help me?

MED SoundStudio 2.1 has been released free for some years now, I did not know till recently…

The developer does not want it to die off so is handing out…

I personally really like it & it is another ‘Beat of a Different Drummer’ Tracker with its built-in HighLife Engine, Ability to save to self-contained EXE, Right-click on pattern block gives you list of FX, after choosing then you get parameters…DONE!. Many ways to generate sounds-noise, VST scanning is fast-good,etc…

I have attached some extra instruments on later replies that are VSTi that have been frozen (sampled) in the HighLife Engine…I also have U-He Diva & Devine Machine Krishna Instruments I have created that I have not uploaded yet…

Too much to be duplicating here…

I am trying to make an xrni (hi-hat) where the decay is shorter the lower the velocity - the logic being that a hard hitting cymbal rings for a longer time. Is this possible with the velocity key tracker inside an instrument? I’ve experimented with various operator modes but can’t quite wrap my head around it. It feels like it might be possible some way.

PS. I don’t want to use meta devices in the Renoise main editor as a workaround. It’s tedious and wouldn’t be compatible with Redux.

There are some power tracks in here that will give you energy.
A Rocky Balboa training video soundtrack, Blade Runner influences
and some retro synthwave summer vibes.
Also there are tracks that are about my dad being very sick
and eventualy passing away.
And a track about the 10 year aniversary
of our child that never made it into this world.
It’s the most personal album I have ever created.
And I am very proud of it.
