[Tool Idea] Merging patterns using the loop function (pattern editor)
Hi all,
lately, while editing in the pattern editor, I often use the loop function in order to create new rhythms and variations. My idea was to make a shortcut that would allow to copy a selection and paste it directly in the next pattern block (or cell), to make it a cumulative cell of a variety of selection made below.
Originally, I first thought developing a full sequencer, that would allow to re-arrange patterns using this loop function, extended to all tracks, all steps in the sequencer (more of a global re-arrangement tool). While this idea is complicated to achieve for me, because I need more time to learn about scripting; I thought making it simpler, and so, a shortcut.
I wanted first of all, to know if any tool has been made with this idea before.
greetings

Control attack and decay through pattern effect commands?
Hi everybody!
Couldn’t figure this one out, is there a way to control adsr values through pattern effect comands? Or would this be a task for automation?

Additional VST(i) folders
I wonder if it would be possible adding the possibility of adding more than just 2 VST plugin folder paths,
since it would improve VST(i) management a lot.
For example:
Some Vst(i) need a registration, some dont’. so that’s why I’m distributing them to different folders.
That makes it easier finding them after p.e. reinstalling my OS.
Or maybe I just want to test some plugins, unsure if I’m going to keep them. So Im using an extra folder for these.
Unfortunately some plugins insist in getting installed on the system partion (like in the “Steinberg/vst” folder), and soley because of that one of the currently 2 paths is reserved for them.
I really try to avoid installing non-essential programs on “c:” so it would be great if there was the opportunity of adding 2-3 more paths leading to different plugin folders

Recording midi sequence from a vst plugin to a track?
hi. So i have a vst plugin generating midi sequence and sending it to another plugin, which works fine. BUT, for some reason i can not record this sequence to a track…I mean, i get the concept of tracks and instruments being independent, so it looks like two plugins communicate with each other directly, but how do i get to record a midi output of the instrument to a track? I’'m using plugin midi routing option to choose which instrument to send the sequence to…

Note Trigger With Arrow Key
It’d be nice if while moving though the Edit notes there was an option to have the notes be triggered and played when the selector block highlighted them. I think it’d be useful.

Redux / Reaper - phrase not triggered
I’m just testing Redux in Reaper and when starting the playback directly at the beginning of the note that should trigger a phrase in Redux it will not work. I have to start the playback a little bit before and only then the phrase is triggered. That’s not the case in Bitwig or Renoise.
I monitored the midi events and it is fine, but Redux is not seeing it somehow. Did anyone else observe that?

More usable keystrokes for step length counter
This is a deep cut, but hear me out:
I use the step length counter all the time to quickly enter notes at set intervals of lines. And I use the keystrokes to set the intervals, like ⌘+1, ⌘+2, ⌘+3, 4,8, 12, 16, etc.
My challenge is that I don’t use all the integers in between – like I never set my step length to 5, 7, or 9, but I often set it to 12, 16, and 32.
It finally dawned on me that I could update the keystrokes so that
⌘1=1
⌘2=2
⌘3=3
⌘4=4
⌘5=12
⌘6=6
⌘7=16
⌘8=8
⌘9=32
I just did that and am looking forward to the faster workflow that will result. Hope it helps you!

Option to not try to install ReWire engine on every start
Renoise tries to install its ReWire engine on every start, which I’m not allowing it to do, as I never ever had any use for ReWire. It’s a bit annoying though - couldn’t it be an option set for once?

ProMotion / high/variable refresh rate proper support
I’m testing current version on a latest MacBook Pro M1 14" and what strikes me is that the GUI doesn’t seem smooth at all.
I have it in full screen mode, latency down to 1ms (using built in audio device, don’t know how accurate this is), FPS limit off (but frankly no matter the settings, it all seems the same).
And still the VU meter / phase meter / freq analyzer and pattern scrolling seem… well very janky. I’d say even for 60hz, which Renoise probably currently runs at on Mac OS, they seem more like 30? Or even less. I don’t know whether this is a Rosetta thing, and the current closed ARM beta fixes this, or is it something else, but it’s definitely not pleasing on the eye.
Anyway - proper support for higher/variable refresh rates would be really welcome. VRR would bring some nice energy saving while on the go

MROC MSynth 1.50a Win32 - Rather Cool/Rare Synth Sequencer>>>
Not that I post these kinds of things here but I had the page & the images already up with the NoiseTrekker 3 stuff…
Not old only like a decade pretty cool piano-roll sequencer I don’t think anybody knew of…
The Piano-Roll rather limited resolution & you can adjust velocity…
There is ‘knob turn record’ automation…
Internal synth that can be ‘structured’ you can add any of the internal transforms to build a massive synth & you can also use DMO DirectX Plugs in it…You probably don’t have any but if you install SVArTracker you will have what I have in the pics…
WAVE out render works just fine & the demo tune (not very good) sounds clean…
Here image with just about everything open that can be-
Synth has structure editor to change OSC type & to add as many ‘transforms’ as you like & in what order you like-
Here you see dropdown of what can be added & as many instances that will fit onscreen-
Here just adding a bunch to see WTF…
Kinda cool to play with for free…There is also a beatbox for external WAVs to load in for drums or anything else you want to trigger…
Limitations…UhhhYES!..But even as it is it is way more in potential than REBIRTH which seems so beloved…And HEY! Quicker too…
Get the 1.50 from here-

Automating VST Effects not VST instruments
As above.
I know that you can use the instrument automtion to automate instrument parameters, but how can this be done with effect VST’s? I want a reverb to increase in breakdown and can’t find a way to automate the changes. Is it possible?

NoiseTrekker 3.2.2 From The Original Messageboard (Wayback)>>>
There are some various directories on servers one can grab this but…BUTT!!..You can also grab it from the original messageboard on the wayback machine here-
https://web.archive.org/web/20020125161845/http://www.noisetrekker3.f2s.com/
Messing about actually pretty good with some limitations & instability (on rare occasion)…Seems like there would be a NoiseTrekker 3.2.2 Challenge Thread on here somewhere, You know, for the nostalgia, or wait for it…JUST THE CHALLENGE OF IT!!
Especially as you look at the wayback snapshot this page is EXACTLY 20 YEARS OLD as I am posting right now!!!
Of course this would appeal to the ‘elderly’ of users as I suspect many here were probably still crapping their pants 20 years ago…
It’s not perfect but still too good to just be wasting away…

VST plugins not support in last Renoise versions
So I sometimes watch some YouTube video about Renoise subject. There is some old video from 2016. year where someone use some VST plugins. For example “Ambience”.
You can downloaded for free.
But this plugin not present in VST list.
Question: Which version of Renoise I must use for supporting all old VST plugins?

Change attack value of volume AHDSR based on velocity
Hello,
I’m trying to change the attack value of an AHDSR in a modulation set of an instrument dynamically based on the input velocity. However, the velocity tracker from the modulation devices doesn’t allow to specify a destination and thus I can only seem to change the value vertically by adding/multiplying to the whole AHDSR. As a workaround, I have mapped the attack value to a macro, which I control from a velocity tracker outside of the instrument in the track dsp chain. In the effects chain of the instrument itself there is unfortunately no “intrument macro” device, to control the instruments macros via the velocity tracker effects device from there. Am I missing something here or is there really no self-contained solution (i.e. without relying on track effects) to achieve what I want to do for an instrument?

More complete XM exporter?
I’d love to be able to use Renoise to make music for game soundtracks that require actual XM files. Understandably, Renoise is designed to be it’s own DAW that happens to be a tracker, but the modern options such as Milkytracker or OpenMPT for actual module work are very dated and clunky by comparison to the far more customizable and capable Renoise. I appreciate there are a couple of options for XM export right now, but they’re abandoned and not entirely working and it would be amazing to have a decent solution harness the power of Renoise for game soundtrack development.

Yamaha S-YXG50 Portable VSTi
Hello,
Does anyone know how to operate this VSTi on Renoise? I managed to get it running on Linux through Carla rack, but I have no idea how to program it to change instruments with MIDI commands. It does receive the MIDI commands and does something, but that’s not very helpful. If you know any additional resources regarding this plugin, feel free to post.

Guide to Migrating a Renoise Install from Old to New Computer (Mac)
Hi Community,
Do we have a guide for migrating all our settings, templates, doofers, samples, plugins, etc from an old computer to a new one? I just installed Renoise on my new Mac and it’s all naked.
TIA

Duplex audio recording
Hi,
I’m having some trouble setting up for audio “Duplex” recording.
The initial bug is that the level “recorded sample gain” goes down to reduce the number of bits to 24 “in a 32 bit container/stream” . Upon resampling a sampled signal the signal gets progressively softer as a result of sampling 32 to 24. Setting the native sample container to 24 bits would resolve this. “I would have it at 24 bit int all the time”
Coming to the script section, would it be possible to write a script that grabs the master buffer, or assorted buffers. And puts them on the recording channel input. So you can realtime record your buffer without losing signal strength?
