[GUI PROBLEM] "Run all plugins in sandboxes" slows down the Renoise GUI
R3.2.2 or old, W10
In Renoise: Preferences / Plugin / Misc there is the following option:
- Run all plugins in sandboxes (-->separate process)
- If this option is activated, all plugins, both 32bit and 64bit will run in a separate window.
- If this option is disabled, only 32bit plugins will run in a separate window.
In either case, running a separate window (both AudioPluginServer32.exe and AudioPluginServer64.exe) causes a general slowdown in the Renoise GUI. That is, any 32bit or 64bit window run separately is going to negatively influence the graphics performance of the Renoise window. Why does this happen? Is it a direct Windows 10 problem or is the problem really internal to Renoise?
One very clear way of looking at it is to navigate through the Renoise top bar menus when Renoise are running any AudioPluginServer32.exe or AudioPluginServer64.exe (you must have the plugin window open). You will see that it works as if it were drunk. And furthermore, the problem is cumulative. If you open multiple plugin windows, the Renoise GUI will perform even worse, especially in the drop down menus…
I think this issue is one of the main current problems for Renoise, from that Renoise reached the first version with HiDPI compatibility.
Renoise Team, could you please resolve this matter?

Ignore pattern in pattern editor
What do you think , an ignore option for the pattern
So it will jump straight from the preceding pattern to the pattern after the ignored one

[PROBLEM] unordered list return of available_devices in track
R3.2.2 or old W10
There seems to be a small problem with the return of the two lists available_devices and available_device_infos for the tracks.
When starting Renoise the available_devices and available_device_infos properties can return the VST effects to the beginning of the list. But later these properties can return the VST effects to the end of the list, changing the order of the list.
It is desirable that they always return the same order of the list. I think the correct thing is that they always return the native effects and then the VST effects.
I cannot describe why this happens…
>>> rprint(renoise.song().selected_track.available_devices) [1] => Audio/Effects/VST/TAL-Vocoder [2] => Audio/Effects/Native/Delay [3] => Audio/Effects/Native/Multitap [4] => Audio/Effects/Native/mpReverb 2 [5] => Audio/Effects/Native/Reverb ... [42] => Audio/Effects/Native/*LFO [43] => Audio/Effects/Native/*Key Tracker [44] => Audio/Effects/Native/*Velocity Tracker [45] => Audio/Effects/Native/*Signal FollowerLater, in the same project session (look up and down the list)…
>>> rprint(renoise.song().selected_track.available_devices) [1] => Audio/Effects/Native/Delay [2] => Audio/Effects/Native/Multitap [3] => Audio/Effects/Native/mpReverb 2 [4] => Audio/Effects/Native/Reverb ... [41] => Audio/Effects/Native/*LFO [42] => Audio/Effects/Native/*Key Tracker [43] => Audio/Effects/Native/*Velocity Tracker [44] => Audio/Effects/Native/*Signal Follower [45] => Audio/Effects/VST/TAL-VocoderWhy does this happen? Can this be corrected?

Dirtywave m8 tracker
Anyone getting the dirtywave m8 tracker?
Looking slick imo, though a bit weird maybe with the button layout . Gas is definitely activated, though at the moment I can’t justify a 450,- dollar purchase, also knowing I have a hardly touched polyend tracker here that needs more love. If in the future the price can come down, perhaps with a cheaper Nerdseq portable as direct competition a better choice can be weighed.
Great to see these projects come to light!

I'm happy that old version disappears from the installed list
It’s a trivial matter, but there is something I really want to thank.
That is, the old version Renoise disappears in the Windows app list when the program is overwritten and installed with the new version.
With other programs such as Bitwig Studio, even if install by overwriting, the previous version remains in the list, so have to delete it from the registry ourself.
It’s a trivial matter, but thanks for the well-thought-out program Renoise I love forever.
I’m a Mac user since Mac Plus 1MB, but recently I’m enjoying 2in1 Windows 10 laptop. But my favorite is the Xfce environment of Linux.

Apply DSP to repitched sample
I have a break that is repitched to fit the project’s BPM. I have an fx chain associated with it.
When I press the “apply DSP to sample” button, what exactly is happening ?
Is the DSP applied at original sample speed and I hear the repitched version of it, or is the sample repitched and the DSP applied later (which would fit the live version) ?
If the first case is true, the sound could be different… This confuses me.
Thanks for your help.

Usage of sqlite in a Renoise tool?
Is it somehow possible to use a sqlite database and driver within a renoise LUA tool?
All I found are kind of LUA extensions, written in C(++)… If it is not possible, what about including a sqlite package into the Renoise LUA core?

Problem with QjackCtl in ubuntu
Hey guys listen i have QjackCtl and works well, the thing is the volume of say firefox and renoise are not the same when running them at the same time.In QjackCtl execute script after startup i have put the following command pactl load-module module-jack-sink channels=2; pactl load-module module-jack-source; pacmd set-default-sink jack_out so i can have multiple audio apps running alongside without problems but when i watch a video in firefox the audio is like it is suppose to be but if i switch over to Renoise the audio is much higher.Any ideas?

Good bluetooth earsticks for sports and phoning
Hi,
I already bought two types of bluetooth earsticks for sports and phoning. Sadly one sucks for jogging (it has a cable in between the sticks, sony), and the other one has extremely poor microphones.
Any hint for me what would be a good model/vendor here? I was looking at a price range of 60 eur maximum or so…

"Reder-Or" by Divine Electronics
This is a simple dace-ish track I’ve put together lightning fast (two-three weeks, compared to years normally), let us say it’s more like a celebration of the newly added VST3 compatibility and the Surge synth. Surge is responsable for 3 instruments here. As per usual, the track is downmixed to tape, hence the hiss.
And the comic book this refers to is yours to decipher
Hope you dig it,
cheers

Is it possible to save a sample after beatsyncing?
So i don’t believe it’s possible to beatsync and then slice up the sample, as the slices wont be in the same bpm even after placing the same value in each slice. I was trying to find a workaround and attempting to beatsync the entire sample and then saving as the correct bpm and then slicing it up. Everytime i save sample as a .wav, it just saves as the original sample. This is hard to articulate hopefully this makes sense lool

Multiple lfo tool
i like so much to automate everything to get new exciting sounds with llfos. but the process itself is so boring. can i possibly do something like this in lua? get device params, choose which to automate, setup one automation chain of lfos and multiply it to the list of parameters? i don’t know lua at all. maybe some other software will be more interesting for this?

Random Instrument Subsamples [RESOLVED]
This may already have an answer somewhere - I’m not sure/looking in the wrong places.
Earlier, I attempted to load up a couple of samples in an instrument and I’m wondering how to switch between the samples at will in the tracker interface - is there something I’m overlooking? If this is the wrong forum subgroup, sorry!
Edit: Figured it out! In the Sampler > Keyzones tab, there’s an EXTREMELY small selection menu at the bottom right that shows “Overlap” settings.

Replace note without replacing velocity calue
I almost feel ashamed for asking after 15 years of renoise usage .
But is there a way to insert ( replace ) a note without replacing the velocity value ?

BeRoSequencer (yet another DAW)
I just saw this from Revision Demoparty 2021 Youtube Channel.
Seems cool with realtime singing text-to-speech based on MBROLA project.

heyo~
got a new psy tune more or less complete. tried a bunch of new (to me) techniques in the sound design for this one. All native renoise dsp, adventure kid waveforms, and a couple of singen0.3 generated fm sounds. All the percussion I’ve synthesized as well.
feedbackand constructive criticism is welcome! lmk what you think!
