I installed renoise on my new laptop the 20th august 2022 , Studio One was installed the 3th october .
There is a Studio one license file called " renoise" in Renoise/roaming/dir.
What’sup with that ?

On Ubuntu I’m having some issues with loading presets with wavetables. Sometimes the presets are only loaded correctly when I open the GUI of Hive. Hive 8676 is working fine and the problem shows up only with newer versions. Here is what’s happening

Is anyone observing this as well? It’s happening with VST 2 and VST3 versions of Hive. U-he is aware of this but only me seems to have this problem.

Hello everyone,

I am trying to get Reason Rack working on mac.

VST3 opens fine on the first initialization, but if I close the plugin UI, then it will not open again.

The AU version of the plugin UI works quite well, except it produces no audio and receives no MIDI.

Has anyone run into anything similar?

Since updating to 3.4, Renoise continually keeps ‘Rescanning Audio Devices’ every few seconds, causing small freezes and stutters.

I run two RME HDSP Multiface II’s on my system, and two iConnectivity mio10 MIDI devices. It seems the unified ASIO/MIDI driver for the mio10’s are the culprits for this problem - solved by uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. Sadly, if the unified driver isn’t installed, I can no longer see the mio10’s as MIDI inputs in the MIDI device list Renoise populates.

I’ve tried ticking ‘Ignore request from driver’ tickbox in audio settings, but this doesn’t solve the issue. For now, I’ve had to go back to 3.3, as this doesn’t do the ‘Rescanning Audio Devices’ constantly.

What was changed between 3.3 and 3.4 to cause this?

I just set up a new machine and spotted a possible bug.
Renoise 3.4.2
Windows 11, Intel Core i7 12700k

Description:
When opening a VST/VSTi to its external editor (=its own window/interface) and then double clicking somewhere to type in parameters, Renoise keeps Keyboard Focus in the instrument list simultaneously. This causes the instrument to play out loud, while data is being typed in.

Steps to reproduce, expected / actual results:
Open a VSTi such as u-he Diva or a VST such as FabFilter Pro-Q. The same issue applies to both VST2 and VST3 versions.

-Click to open u-he Diva’s presets (inside its own interface) and search for a preset by typing something with the keyboard; each key press now also plays the synth out loud.

-Click to open FabFilter Pro-Q, double click to set a new EQ point - then instead of dragging with the mouse, double click to type in a value (Freq, Gain, Q) with the keyboard. Again, each key press also plays the sample or synth (which is currently selected in the instrument list - of course if nothing is selected there, nothing will play) - so if I type in 2.5dB, you will hear C# (2), D (.), F# (5).

What it -should- do is stay silent while typing in data and return to normal (audible) mode after having pressed enter (finished typing in).

When working in the sampler and after unplugging my headphone (to hear sounds through speaker), Renoise (Windows 11) seems to freeze up every time stating “Scanning for MIDI devices…”. This takes very long (1-2 minutes) and afterwards the whole program doesn’t seem to work anymore. Some menus work, but some will cause the app to freeze up again or make Renoise crash. Samples and songs won’t play back at this point. The same happens the other way around, when plugging in a headphone. Does anyone else have this problem, or better yet, a solution Thanks!

Please can U add something like a patchbay such as in fruityloops and bitwig.
We think thats a great idea for the RENOISE DAW to be universal and widespreading in the MUSIC Community.
Can U Please look at the programms such as BESPOKE or PURE DATA or USINE.

Thanks a lot for the Renoise Produkt, which is very precise but it should be further more easier like childsplay.

Description

If you copy/paste/duplicate some specific VST3 plugins, the settings of the plugin will be lost. This only happens in Renoise, not in Bitwig.

Steps to reproduce

1. Load Spectre VST3/macos version, make some preset adjustments
2. Copy the dsp, and paste it to another track. Settings of the copy should be in initialized state again.
3. Repeat the same in Bitwig. It should copy/paste just normally.

Sample recorder window is neat and does the job but while live recording stuff it would be nice to see the wave form like a waveform in the sampler. Much like using the draw tool and like any other DAW does audio recording to tracks.

Recording controls may be put into a dropdown or accordion style toggle space in the waveform controls bar at the top which gets activated when record button clicked instead of showing them in a separate window.

Hi,

I was thinking about clippers… Those often come with oversampling options. I think I really tried all available. To my ears, clipping only works on a bus or even master, because then the added distortion will be somehow masked in the mash of full band sounds… So also only if you mix fullband-width-alike, not classic or so

But when it comes to the oversampling options, in the end I always tend to use no oversampling. Why it is even provided, I don’t get this: Clipping is clipping, cutting of the waveforms in a very rigit way. Why should oversampling help here? Will the curve then smoothed out over some samples? Still it would result in drastical distortion on the transients. It will alias as hell, no matter of oversampling… Seems to be a voodoo topic to me.

And then do you ever use soft clipping, which simply is “fading in” the clipping? I only seem to like Renoise’s own soft clipper, sometimes it actually improves the sound, but I cannot tell under which conditions this is (Also its annoying the soft clipper is not available as device simply). What was interesting maybe, would be a softclipper connected to an env follower, or lets say a waveshaper. Maybe this is what a FET compressor actually does…

There are a lot of tutorials (also by quite skilled people) in which they use clippers everywhere esp. on the drums, the single drums, then the bus, then the master… I don’t like that harsh, edgy sound, would only fit to hard genres, IMHO. For example, in Baphy’s videos, the clipping ruins the dynamics, more specifically the sound of the transients. Maybe you need very good, fast responding monitors to have a clue what coloration the transients have. On the other hand, clipping was a thing in a lot of Amiga tunes, and it sounded great.

What are your finding with clippers? Do you use it regularly? On what kind of sounds, or only selective for specific genres? Do you use oversampling? I hope we can start some discussion about the topic here!

Hi!
I just bought Renoise and its wonderful!
That said…when I open up saved songs my VST presets for Massive and FM8 aren’t loading!

In the plugin side-panel, the Program drop-down simply says “disabled” – is there any way I can fix this? Alternately, could these VSTs simply be too old?
