Crackling with Jack at ~50% DSP load, but no xruns
@lilith wrote:
Strange issue here that only happens with Renoise. I put several instances of DIVA (also tested with other CPU hungry plugins like Cadmium) into Renoise to increase the DSP load to ~50%. When using Renoise with Jack I get crackling in the output, but these crackles are not caused by xruns. There are no xruns and when I record the output there are no crackles. Usually I’m using Cadence from KXStudio . I tried to disable the pulse audio bridge, etc. but the issue is not related to anything I tried. It also is not affected if the Renoise GUI is open or not. Also the frame rate does not play any role. Sandboxing changes also nothing. It seems that I can even increase the crackling by scrolling large webpages or opening programs. I did the same test in Bitwig in there I don’t get crackling at ~50% load.
When using plain ALSA there is no crackling.
Could anyone please try to reproduce this? You just have to use a preset that isn’t to noisy, e.g. a sine pad or something. So you can hear it better.

How to send discrete note offs to all midi channels?
@esaruoho wrote:
Hi, I’m wondering how to send discrete note offs to each and every midi channel? I often play a multitimbral synth, and change channels while a key is down, resulting in never-ending notes.
Is there a way of running midi panic cleans for each and every note on each and every channel? Would really help.

How to run a function after sample recording finishes?
@esaruoho wrote:
Hi, I’m trying to figure out how to run a function whenever a sample recording finishes?
I’d prefer to set autoseek + autofade = ON and maybe change a screen setting.
But how do I do it? I used to do this by using a notifier on sample_buffer_observable but i then need to set it to each and every instrument box slot. Is there an easier solution?

Advanced Edit - Linear with decreased values
@Samykend wrote:
Hello everyone,
I am strarting with renoise, coming from FL Studio and I really like what I can do with renoise.
I was trying to implement a bass which is fading out and I wanted to use the advanced edit to do so.
At the end, I would like to have something like this:
C-300 F0
C-300 E0
C-300 D0
C-300 C0
… and so on
I have tried the interpolate linear tool in the advanced edit mode but it looks like it can work with increasing values and not working if you want your values to decrease.
Am I missing something ?
Big thanks in advance for your help

thank you for your help.

AU Synth help please
@Deadstar wrote:
Hey, new here, so hi!
I am trying to figure out Renoise. I can get a AU synth started but the problem is this.
I use the computers keyboard as a piano. But this only works when I am in the track where the instrument is selected. The synth is a pop up and when I adjust something I have to click again in the track to listen to the adjustments. So choosing the right settings is a hell of a job.
Am Indoing something wrong or is this just Renoise?

Korg-microkey-37-keyboard-controller

Howdy all, I’m shopping around for a “no frills” keyboard and this might be it. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/microKEY237--korg-microkey-37-keyboard-controller
All I need it mod and pitch wheels and decent keys for my work. I don’t have an aggressive playing style, mostly noodling around with ideas and riffs. I have to plug it into a linux box but I think the USB will work.
Anyone using either the 25, 37 or 61 key versions? Most of the on-line reviews are positive but I’d like to hear your impressions if you have a moment.
Cheers.

Bug: rendered wav does not have panned VSTs+samples
@sidwave wrote:
hey i noticed this long ago…
i just rendered a new tune, and i used a pan inside the synthmaster 2 plug.
they do not get into the wave file.
nor adding a pan command works, because that only works on samples
nor panning the whole channel down in the bottom, gives the result.
it sounds fine inside renoise. the wav doesnt.
i thought the problem would be fixed, but i know the tracker scene, there is a large amount of sample music being made ? and it works on samples… eh duh, why does some vocals i sampled inside renoise, pan fine inside renoise, and not in the WAV ?
i hope this gets fixed
when a VST has a pan sound knob, and you set that to all way left, for sure that must go into the wav

Renoise/ redux phrase editor
@bunja1979 wrote:
will there be an update to make the phrase editor more like the main editor in renoise ,
ie live recording midi controllers ?
i have read how this would be problematic
but will it still happen ? is it in the works?
im more than happy with redux but im sure this would make it appeal to a wider audience having a tracker inside another daw

@slujr wrote:
Hey fellow renoisers
Got a new tune up after a long hiatus of posting anything. I’ve been experimenting with karplus-strong type synthesis methods within renoise a lot lately. This track features a synth cobbled together with key trackers and renoise dsp chains. I’ve been enjoying the sounds I’ve been getting. kinda atonal and percussive. Anyway, have a listen, and as always, feedback and constructive criticism appreciated!

Microtonic sequencer does not send midi out
@gentleclockdivider wrote:
Only happens in renoise , I routed micirotonic to a new (receiving ) instrument , and this instrument is routed to my integra ( the usual renoise 2 step approach )
No luck
Works perfectly in other hosts ( reaper )

I was using an old 2.8 version for a couple days to see if i wanted to buy the new version. One thing i can’t seem to find is the precise Hex numbers being displayed when selcting a point in the sample. It used to show up at the bottom when you selected an area but i am not seeing it in the new version. Any ideas?

Headphone Recommendations
@DougieJones wrote:
Hello everyone,
New Renoise user here. I like a simplified set-up, and I’m a hobbyist with kids, so I prefer to keep my music gear as a laptop and a set of headphones. What headphones would be ideal in this arrangement, with Renoise being my primary way of working?
thanks,
DJ
