OSC tutorial? (renoise-related)
@dspasic wrote:
Hi all,
i’m interested in exploring OSC within Renoise, but lack of information regarding this topic except official OSC documentation. Anyone willing to share some pointers, crucial facts, or for some skype-screen-sharing session sometime? or some group meeting for all interested in topic?
Thanks!

Stacked licenses not working?
@joule wrote:
I got an upgrade, but licenses no longer seem to be stacked, instead they default to 4.2 now that 3.2 has been released. It doesn’t matter much to me, but I thought I’d let you know. (or maybe it’s just not being presented correctly under “license details” backstage?)

32-Bit plugin(s) crashes in RNS 3.2 but was fine in 3.1.1 (x86&x64)
@rainydayshirts wrote:
So, I have a handful of VSTi plugins that crash after initialization in Renoise 3.2, but they load fine in 3.1.1, both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Renoise. The log file shows that they initialize successfully, but before their GUI loads, they crash. I am curious if this might have something to do with the DPI changes in 3.2.
I realize that this is most likely a bug in the plugins themselves, but I was hoping that there may be some workarounds that I can try to get them to work. They are freeware or donation-ware, and the likelihood of the plugin developer fixing them I believe is slim.
Is there anything that changed from 3.1.1 to 3.2 that could be causing these crashes? And, is there anything that I might try to get them to load in 3.2?
(Changing the options in the plugin compatibility dialog have no apparent effect)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
Native Resolution: 1920x1200 (single, builtin display)
Scaling: 100% system-wide (Auto in RNS Preferences)

AU Plugins Settings Not Saved in macOS Mojave
@cj5 wrote:
Anybody else having this issue?
Just noticed that some of my AU plugins have had their settings and saved presets wiped sometime after upgrading to Mojave. This happened sometime between March 2019 and now (August 2019).
I’m using 3.1.1 and just tried loading the song into 3.2.0 as well with the same issue. Some AU plugins have absolutely no problem.
Is there anything I can do to recover the settings?

Shortcuts with ALT key acting weird
@weizenkeim wrote:
every shortcut in 3.2 that uses the ALT key behaves weird here, some won’t work at all (alt + a,y,q,t) some will only react after a certain time. Assigning new shortcuts that use ALT is also difficult. Anyone who can confirm this?

Renoise 3.2 right click and gui issue
@bmts wrote:
I was very happy to see to update, even though I haven’t had much time to be at the computer the last few weeks, I had to try the new version!
I noticed two usage issues, the first is right clicking on tracks headers has no effect, I was trying to create groups for example, and the right click only works on the track area. Was like this already? I was almost certain I could open the menu on the header before…
Another thing is some wider effect have issues with the borders:
Thank you!

Help with Microkorg arpeggiator config
@Cdr_Tomalak wrote:
Hey guys
I’m trying to find the optimum configuration for Renoise to run my microkorg arp via midi.
My set up is an okayish QX9650 system with 8gb ram, runs on SSDs, Win 10, with Renoise 3.1.1 installed. I have a Scarlett 4i4 audio interface connected via usb2. The korg is connected via midi, and line out goes back into the audio interface.
I’m essentially using the korg to generate arp samples, and they originate as midi signals from renoise to trigger sounds which come back into the audio interface.
There are loads of Renoise configuration options. Here’s a summary of what I’ve done via some snips:
1 & 2: Renoise preferences
3: Instrument settings
4: Track settings
I’ve noticed that if I’m not triggering the arp, fixing latency is fairly easy, whilst for the arp it’s a bit of a nightmare. I was wondering what other people have done to trigger hardware arps and feed the sound back into renoise?
Latency fixing seems possible from several angles
a) RNS CONFIG: MIDI clock master, offset
b) RNS CONFIG: Automatic PDC toggle
c) INSTRUMENT: Latency
d) Track: Delay
I’ve also noticed that even with a particular latency config using the above, the MIDI clock sent to the korg seems inconsistent, and I’ve seen this called jittering on other forums. I am unsure why such a basic operation is an issue, since I’m armed to the teeth with software and hardware. The MIDI clock should not be jumping about once triggered, unless I’m listening to the the soundtrack from Midwinter on the Amiga.
Anyhoo, maybe I’m being thick here? If anyone has any pointers it sure would be awesome!!! Cheers!

No easy way to create a second effect group/Doofer inside a chain?
@c-Row wrote:
Maybe I am just missing something, but to me it seems you cannot simply create more than one effect group/Doofer inside a effect chain? The only workaround I could find was creating a second Doofer on another track and copy/append this to the original track.

How to connect Processing with Renoise via OSC
@animanoir wrote:
Hi. I’ve fallen in absolute love with Renoise, and I wish to connect it to Processing to trigger images, animations, etc.
So I’m an intermediate programmer, not lost at all, but I don’t know how I could setup Renoise to send MIDI or something messages to P5 for it to trigger images.
Any starter kit?

New, simple detune / pitchshift DSP effect
@Aamadeus wrote:
I would really like to be able to simply detune / pitchshift with an fx-effect.
Because when I want to make a custom Chorus / Ensemble effect with for example 5 voices (In the instrument tab) It appears to me that I would have to multiply the samples 5 times to detune them individually, which is practically impossible for an sfz instrument.
What I would like to do is send all samples to fx chain 1 with a hydra, then edit multiple instances in multiple effect chains before bringing them back together in a final fx-Chain.
This way I can detune, position, edit tone-quality and reverb for each voice individually.
However I found no way to simply detune in the fx-chain and all (free) plugins I found where using a lot of resources and are trying to tune everything to a certain pitch/Key or do other nonsense. All I need is a most basic very simple detune in the fx-chain.
If anyone has tips on how do that regardless of a new feature, I’d be really appreciative as well.
Cheers, Aaron

How would I make one sample slice become a "Timestretched" sample slice?
@Neuro_No_Neuro wrote:
OK, I drew a click sample, 10 samples long, into the sample editor. I then sliced the sample into two pieces. Sample and Sample Slice 1, shown here:
I have a pattern playing it as such (note change to slice 2 (S02)):
The sample plays back fine, the second slice is also working fine in a normal fashion.
What I do not know is how to make the second slice become time-stretched. Rather, enable the timestretch function AND get an audible difference.
What I did find out with a different sample is that the sampling portion that gets timestretched might need to be a certain sample length. 9 samples long is not long enough.
The only way I figured out how to do this was use a longer sample, such as a full-length hi-hat sample, and then duplicate it. Then set the two samples up as a drumset, and THEN apply the timestretch to the second sample only. It will stretch, and it will cut off when the non-stretched sample gets selected again in the pattern, kinda like a hi-hat cutoff.
I was hoping, initially, to be able to trigger the timestretch via the pattern itself, y’know, putting in a command in the sequencer to trigger “beat sync” on and off. No go. Unless I’m mistaken, this timestretch effect really is more for those making tracks with sample loops, versus single notes.
Is there some way to perhaps be able to do this via the sequencer, so I would be able to trigger a timestretch effect on a single sample (like a hi-hat or a bass drum or a note), or a short length of samples?

Never a better time than now to add VST3 support

Reason 11 is out in late September and it’s going to be a VST. Would make my workflow a heck of a lot easier. Maybe I’m the only one who wants vst3 support. Just figured I’d put it out there.

Windows 7 - HiDPI: Crash when changing GUI scaling option
@TURRICAN wrote:
When accessing the GUI Hi-DPI settings, Renoise 3.2 crashes to desktop when switching between settings…It’s very buggy…because the GUI will scale from 125% to 100% but changing that to a different setting just crashes Renoise.

Same version for renoise and redux
@Tumulte wrote:
That’s a very simple improvement : just make redux versions follow renoises version (making it Redux 3.2, rather than 1.1)
(or at least 1.2)
From a strict programming point of view, redux is 1.1, but from a customer point of view it has renoise 3.2’s features.
“1.1”, kinda implies it’s less advanced (or that redux is unrelated to renoise), “3.2” clearly states it comes from the same batch
