Duplex mapping for nanoKONTROL Studio
@koskhun wrote:
Hello,
Please find an adaption that I did for a Korg nanoKontrol Studio.
I’m still searching a way to set block loop size on the wheel.
An other problem I have is setting “Buttons3” group as trigger for parameter automation record. I would like like to set the record_method (disabled, interleaved or punch-in) with those buttons for each parameter respectively, but can’t find a way to do it. Could the in the .xml help?
If I try with some application like
Automateable = {
mappings = {
record_method = {
group_name = “Buttons3”,
},
},
I have following error:

Little piano based track I made inspired by Erik Satie. Wanted to create a semi-randomised song so I took two bass notes, four chords, and six notes for melodies and made renoise randomly select them. Glitch percussion was also randomly selected from a pool of samples. Everything else was sequenced intentionally.
Tried to master the track but just ended up destroying the overall sound so I just went back to an older mix of it instead even though it’s a fair bit quieter. Might try again but for now this is as far I’m gonna edit it.
Need to get a better piano VST as well, playing chords on this one makes the transients too boomy or loud or something, it’s like the notes stack and the amplitude spikes. Anyways it is what it is, might fork out the cash for Pianoteq 6 sometime soon instead.

I m trying to receive the midi clock from renoise in the rack but I can not find a module suitable to convert the Midi clock to BPM ,is this possible? any clue about the best workflow?

[H445] MC505 - KitMenus Samplepack w/ Competition
@U4iC wrote:
Gear: MC-505

All MC-505 Kit Menu Samples.
I have posted this public now, as well as a competition to my label site. Please spread this around, I think it will be very fun. Demo track included as .xrns.
Prizes
– Top 3 tracks will be included in free release with future downloads of the samplepack. This will include the project file.
– Artists choice of free release with CVR
– Possible opportunity for premium release with CVR
Rules
– You can only use the samples provided in the Samplepack.
– You are not limited to how much you cut them up, but you can not add fx in the process in any way. (All sounds used have to be unaltered from the original sample file, only sliced up however you want)
– You can use any internal DSP/FX in your DAW. (Envelope shaping will probably be useful)
– You can NOT use any VST/VSTi/AU etc.
– Keep your project file around just in case.
How to Submit?
- You will need to create an account with us. This is to limit spam and make sure we can get in touch with you for purposes of this competition.
- Upload your track (MP3) somewhere we can download it from
- Hit the Contact Us form, make sure the subject is relevant to this submission (ie. “Competition entry”)
- Make sure to include the link to the mp3 in the message.
Judging
Judging will be done by select artists already working with CVR.

I need a little advice before tracking
@yusuke wrote:
Hello everybody, I want to start with this thing about tracking, and I have a netbook pretty old (Intel Atom 1.6GHz and 2gb ram). So I was wondering if its better start with milkytracker or with renoise only using samples and a few of effects if the CPU allows me. Early or later I will move to Renoise thats why I’m asking this.

Best portable battery powered drum machine for finger drumming?
@Garrett_Wang wrote:
last time I went travelling a long time ago I took a Boss dr670 with me.
The sounds were cheesey stadium rock but the pads were really sensitive and it was great for finger drumming. Nice, I still enjoyed it.
Now I am searching for something thats slightly better sounding but still battery powered, small, portable and with nice sensitive pads and at a reasonable price.
Please recommend something to me…unfortunately it seems like these small battery powered drum machines just stopped getting made. Its like the small battery powered drum machines market just stopped and stayed stuck in the past focussed on stadium rock accoustic kits only. Also its shocking and ridiculous the prices people are asking for these old school machines. Surely there is something new and better?
Is it the end for these kinds of machines?
this is sad, anyone know something better?
heres my ideas so far from best to worst:

New copyright law to violate and destroy sample-based artistry?
@Garrett_Wang wrote:
"German electro-pop pioneers Kraftwerk have won a long-running copyright battle over a two-second clip of their 1977 track Metal On Metal…
The European Court of Justice ruled that musicians cannot “sample” other artists’ records without permission…
The ECJ decision could have huge implications for the music industry…
Monday’s ruling means that any reproduction of a sound sample taken from an existing recording must be authorised by the original producer…
But the ECJ also ruled that use of a modified sample that was unrecognisable from the original could be used without permission."
Does this mean that tracks using even just a snare, just a hihat, just a tambourine must now be burnt on a pile of ‘illegal songs’?
Or that all breakbeat samples must now have too much flanger on them or something so that they are ‘unrecognizable’…when does a single hit snare sound become unrecognizable…this shit is annoying.
Personally I think Kraftwerk really sucks anyway…
later on they will complain that synthesized sounds are ‘too powerful’ and cause violence or some bullshit like that…first, make samples illegal…after that any song using drum machines will be ‘gangster’ or ‘drug related’.
Should we make classical music like ‘Wagner’ illegal? As it is known that he supported Hitler?
That hitler stuff is pretty gangster if you ask me…maybe should make Wagner illegal?

Unresponsive UI troubleshooting help
@jmarcels wrote:
Hi there,
I’ve recently reinstalled the Renoise Demo after getting my Macbook fixed and I’ve noticed an issue that I didnt encounter before the reinstall - the UI is very unresponsive. The major area I notice this in is the main tracker view - scrolling the pattern is very laggy and was definitely not like this before. The other thing unusual that I noticed was during first startup, two crashes happening during the scanning of two plugins, plus another two crashes after deleting my config files and having it rescan - this time being a different plugin. I attribute this to the plugins but i thought it was worth mentioning. I have followed the advice in this post, and these were my results: I restarted renoise and had it crash twice on plugin scan (seer above), then once it loaded on the third time and interface was not laggy, it was back to normal - I then went into fullscreen, and the lag started. Exited fullscreen and the lag persisted. Only a restart helped.
I’m using Renoise 3.1 64bit, on MacOS v10.14.5.
Could anyone help me troubleshoot this? I’d usually attribute such lag to my laptop’s retina screen but as I have used Renoise before on this machine I know that it has worked just fine.
Any ideas on what this may be? Many thanks!

Automation: Envelope vs Note effect. Priority
@lilith wrote:
Maybe I just don’t understand the principal. I can do automation via the automation lane or via track effect commands. The automation lane seems to have priority over track effects.
Is there any reason why there are no automation lanes generated when using track effects commands and vice versa?
