Questions about a sampler on which you can also play melodies,
Dear people, I started in the 90’s with fatsracker but then they stopped and I switched to renoise, always on the PC, but I still had and have expanded my wish with a 5.1 speaker set. I have questions about purchasing a sampler , I want to wonder is there already samples in a sampler or do you have to purchase it and can you connect the samler to renoise . I can make music but I have trouble maturing with apratuur , hence my question for advice , and explanation , kind regards Marc de Zeeuw

Do some of you play piano or guitar?
Hi im new here im bunja Just wanted to ask if you all mostly use a querty keyboard to make music , or if you play piano or music keyboard / ?
Im new to renoise just learning it properly as i was messing with it before and i really love it , and lately i have downloaded the simple piano roll, which is cool but dont know if learning that alongside the tracker system will mess me up , in future if development is stopped on these tools
I really like the tracker way actually
So which way do you mostly work ?
If your playing piano are you now using the simple piano roll tool or the tracker for stuff played in
Its not important Just a question as im curious cheers peeps

Unreleased early mock-up of a Renoise feature
Hi all,
I recently unearthed an early mock-up of Renoise I designed in 2006. It features an additional column that displays long vertical waveforms. The idea was to visualise the use of long wavs, typically stems of vocals and long instruments recordings alongside Autoseek.
Would you have found it useful in your workflow? Opinions welcome
Here is the design (2006 build)
Cheers,
Neil / Celsius

Some experiment with tidalcycles
A little over a year ago, I became interested in studying tidal cycles. It’s a surprisingly interesting experience that influences my view of renoising and writing music in general. I’m still a beginner and I have a lot of discoveries to make, but here’s a little intermediate result that I tried to capture. In the future, I plan to start fully crossing the work of renoise plus tidal cycles.
Wish me good luck!))

Different frame rates on dual monitors?
Hi all, sorry if there’s an answer on the forum for this but I was struggling to turn anything up.
I’m thinking of going to a dual monitor setup and having the pattern editor on one in portrait mode at a high refresh for nicer scrolling (say 165hz) and the instrument editor on my laptop which tops out at 60hz. Can anyone please tell me whether this is possible or will Renoise limit its frames to the lower of the two refresh rates? So 60fps in this case?
Thanks

Someone familiar with downloading music from the internet and editing
hello dear people, I often edit music in renoise, also old songs from the 70, 80 or 90, I have a 5.1 speaker set and also make it dolby surround with effects, I try to download the music from the internet, but it is getting harder and harder, I can does anyone have a way to download free music for example from youtube and then cover it to mp3 and then back to wave so that it is readable in renoise, hopefully someone knows something

From youtube try to download and convert for free, any advice
I know that you can share music from you tube and then make a copy of the music file, I heard from someone that you can copy it to a converter program the copy link of you tube and that he then make an mp3 and that you can download it and then put it on your pc, but the programs that I use contain a lot of pop ups, which results in a lot of junk on your hard disk, because I make a wave from an mp3 file and process it in renoise, does anyone know how to do this safely via a program from the internet because there are many pop ups programs

Insert FX minimized
I constantly minimize most non-native FX so it would be sweet if there was a check box in their “Plugin Options” to “insert minimized”.
Most non-native FX comes with an empty space area, how about you could open the parameter sliders and click on up to 5-10 or so favorite parameters to show there?

Bug or Feature? Lock Keyboard Focus not respected between Pattern Editor and Pattern Sequence Matrix
Bug or Feature? Lock Keyboard Focus not respected between Pattern Editor and Pattern Sequence Matrix?
I’d prefer if it did stay locked even when clicking between the two. Thoughts?

FX column volume fade out issues
Hello! I am very new to renoise and trying to use the FX column to fade different notes out (turn the volume of the note down over time) for different notes being played. I have seen the documentation refer to the effect I am trying to achieve using is Oxx or 0Oxx and then type in a value for “xx” to fade out faster or slower. Cant seem to get the effect to do anything at the moment and just wanted to see if anyone could help me with this frustration. This is also my first DAW/tracker after famitracker so i just dont know a ton as to what I am doing. Thanks if you can help with this!

Problem with certain vst-effects first appearing on playback/rendering (ie Valhalla Supermassive)
Problem occurs when playing or rendering the song and the track with the fx appears first time. Parameters of the fx “slide” to their desired form. So if the fx is an echo, you can here that tape echo sound, similar than when changing echo lenght parameter. There is no automations and that fx is used with its default preset.
To avoid this I have to play the song fully first (so all fx’s on all tracks have activated) and then do the rendering.
Any idea what causes this and how to fix it?

Stable slice mappings
This is for Redux but it probably applies to Renoise.
Let’s say that you are slicing/remixing an acapella track and added lots of markers for experimentation, you have then sequenced some MIDI, are more or less happy with the arrangement but want to add some extra markers right at the beginning or the middle for e.g. the otro.
With the current feature set you are up for a chore when doing so, as notes on the whole arrangement have to be transposed by a non-constant amount on the note range on as many separate MIDI items as you have.
Note that on this use case, which is slicing a full track, the button to to not stop playing when hitting the next slice is triggered, so destructive rendering is out of the question, as is e.g. you make 40 slices you might be increasing the patch size by 20 (40/2) on average.
So the real solution would be to allow free mapping of slices as if they were individual samples, but if for some reason this isn’t possible, adding a stable-slice button that assigns the first free key/slot on the range to each newly added slice could be a workable solution too, as previous note mappings would be kept stable.

ALSA RealTime Priority thread
Hello,
I recently installed Linux Mint 21 and re-downloaded Renoise. On startup I keep getting this error:
Failed to create a RealTime priority thread for ALSA. Will create a non RT thread instead... It is highly recommended to use RealTime priority audio threads with ALSA AND Jack to get acceptable audio latencies, but you may need admin rights to create RT threads. Please see the Renoise for Linux FAQ on https://www.renoise.com for more details.I tried the fix on the FAQ, which says to edit /etc/security/limits.conf, but that fix doesn’t work. I couldn’t find any other fixes anywhere.
I also can’t hear any audio from Renoise, and changing the audio output gives me:
Failed to open the ALSA device 'hw:PCH,0 (ALC255 Analog)' (Device or resource busy).1 post - 1 participant
Can Renoise standalone on ARM?
Hey! VifyrV here, formerly Yourlocalloser. I got myself a second license for Renoise so that I could do some Raspberri Pi projects. So far it works really great on my RPi4 running a Raspian distro. But my question is this:
Do any of my Linux/RPi-heads know if it is possible to get Renoise to run as a stand-alone on ARM platforms? How would I go about doing that? Currently I just have it auto-loading Renoise after Raspian starts up so that I could build a headless synth. Working well so far but I really think it could be better!
